Anyone else have a problem with your driver's floor mat slipping up towards the front?
mine does to a point where it sometimes holds the clutch pedal from returning just a little bit.
i've been just pulling the bugger back whenever it happens, but am looking for a more permanent fix. no, i do not have a "pin" in the floor, nor a hole in the floormat for the pin to fit.

mine does the same thing. it's permanently curved like the floor. it just keeps sliding forword and getting lodged under my brakes.

I bought a cheapo set of mats from BJ's - they have long studs in the back to keep them from moving. $25 I think for the whole car. Near perfect fit.
Alternatively you could try affixing some industrial hook tape (the plastic part of velcro) to the backside.

the hook tape could work, but it won't stick to my mats. the underside of the mats have so much sand and gravle that i can't clean it enough to get the tape to stick.

I generally drive without a mat unless its rained/snowed, at which point I will put the mat in. I hate floor mats with a livid passion.

So buy new mats.

It happens all the time.. Ill try to give it some gas and it just wont give me any power until I look down and realize my mat has slid all the way up, happens in my mom's hyundai as well even though she has hooks in the floor.

Mine do it too, and I'm about to fix it. Well, one of these days, when I'm thinking about it, and have the time. I figure a small hole poked in the floor mat, near the back, and a small plastic wire tie (zip tie) should do the trick, just gotta figure out what to tie it to.

I had this problem on a previous car, and the cure I found was both cheap, easy and permanent.
Go to the local hardware store, get some large pop studs, like over size jacket poppers, these are fitted to the mat and factory floor covering, clip together and mats move no more.
Full time to fit these, including lifting the carpet = less than an hour and costs about $2 :)

I like being able to take my mats off the floor in the winter, usually the snow melts in the car, and then freezes into ice later on, so taking the floormats in the house is a great solution, instead of having a little ice rink in my car
I've never had a problem with them moving, but I do want to replace them, because they're quite worn (almost threadbare).

Try putting some velcro on the bottom?
My mats dont move, but they have studs on the bottom. Right now I have a layer of newspaper and a set of winter mats in the car. Keeps the carpet nice and clean.

shooter, i've thought about doing something similar, but i really cannot afford to make them permanently attached.
i wonder what it'll take to fashion something like one of those stubs that stick up fromt he floor.

A friend of mine actually got in a car accident because of the floor mats.
He totaled his WRX Wagon because of them. He looked down to move the mat, and rear ended someone. Car made 350whp and 350lb-ft.
Now, almost every car that has had parts from that wagon has gotten into some form of accident.
Boss hit a deer in his WRX. Co-Worker hit a deer in his WRX (destroying one of the cam gears and blowing his motor). One Customer rolled his car.
It wasn't pretty.
Moral of the story? Get some metal grommets and cut a small hole in your carpet and one in the floormat. Install said grommets. Use a thin washer and bolt and nut and bolt the mat to the carpet.

I like the heavy duty rubber Subaru mats. They don't tend to move.

in my truck I drilled a hole right through the mat and the floor and got those plastic push through anchors they use to hold just about every piece of plastic on a car and I used them to secure the mat down. but if you dont really want to put a hole right through your floor. which I really dont reccomend doing I was just lazy with my truck they sell snap button kits yoiu can always put a button in each corner in the rear and that would probably hold it. Or install metal gromets in each of the rear corners. maybe paint them black or somthing and then mount a stud in your floor. wouldnt be all that hard. something like a shortened hood pin :)

My driver side all weather mat always moves! drives me freakin' nuts!!
I think Subaru had a problem with them and no fix!!! Even my factory carpet ones did the same thing.
The little plastic pin that goes thru the hole of the mat isn't big enough to hold them and they pop out!!!

I had the same problem. I bought my car used (about 75k on it) and I ordered a new set of factory mats from Subaru. Now they don't slide... that seems to have fixed the problem.
