On a snow covered back road at night. Coming up on a corner. It was really slippery (I think because it was about 2 degrees F and it's a low traffic road). I turned for the corner too quick, over-corrected the wheel and it send me into a drift. I gave it some gas to try to ride it out and bring it around, but the crown of the road kept me heading towards the shoulder which was the edge of a few acres of woods. After I knew I was headed into the woods I just stomped on the brakes and held on. I hit a tree that was prolly 9" around and since I was still sliding sideways a little it pivoted about 90 degrees and bounced me back off into the middle of the road. Airbags went, radiator drained, engine coughed and cut out. I was only going about 35-40 when I hit the tree so I got out unscathed. I got back in the car when the flatbed got there and noticed that the shifter was all jacked up. The engine took the brunt of the hit and the left side motor mounts broke and rocked it up. It jarred the tranny back and snapped the shift linkage. The left front CV joint snapped and caved in my header. Oh yeah, and the adjustment screw for the left headlight assembly speared through my battery.
It's totaled to say the least... Not sure what I'm going to get for it. I'm thinking around $3k. I'm looking for a newer Impreza now.
I'll update when I get things figured out
Be careful on back roads guys!!

ooh, sorry to hear about that. Like everybody else said, at least you're okay. I don't know if that makes you feel any better though. It sucks to lose a car, especially if you actually enjoy driving it.

Glad you're OK. Gotta love the safety factor of our Leggys.
On a side note, this thread is a perfect example of why I love SL-I so much. I've seen several threads like this on other forums where every reply was simply a "don't you know how to drive?!?.... You should have turned into the skid... Why did you hit the brakes?!?!...... BLAH BLAH BLAH....."
Sucks to total your car, the last thing you need is to get reamed on the internet for it.

:smt023 Yeah, what he said.
Bad enough, everyone in your real world is asking you daily; "What happened?!?!".
Get yourself checked out if you didn't already. Low impact is impact.

with insurance (if you have full coverage) kbb your car, go on autotrader, cars.com craigslist and those kind of sites and see what the average is for your car and options print the ads, and be prepared to fax the info to your insurance company, also all new items that you have put on your car, like licensing, tires, wheels, and add that to your total and that is what you ask from your insurance company. they WILL try to low ball you dont let them. it is not like they will go and fix your car. if you want the most you can get from your car do the above BEFORE your insurance company cuts the check.

Glad to hear your okay. Get yourself checked out like everyone has already said.
I've "bounced" a car off a tree at 40 too. Not a lot of fun.
Be Safe,

Heard back from insurance. Looks like it is going to be a good idea for me to keep the car. I'm gonna be taking the snow tires back, but I will compile a list of parts for sale in a few days.
Things for sure:
4 stock "snowflake" alloys (16")
MSD ignition coil (I will have parts for you to make a harness, details later)
aluminum intake tube with kinda dirty k&N cone filter plus I have the brand new unknown brand blue cone filter that came with the intake
Aftermarket competition iridium core spark plug wires (been on there 6 months)
Pioneer mp3 capable cd player/tuner
All 4 doors are fine. Trunk, mirrors, etc.
I'll do a more detailed list when I get things all sorted out.
PS I live in Rochester, NY. The car will be in Pavilion, NY. If you are from Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, etc it's a short drive.

That trually sucks! That is a hard hit.... I T-boned a Ford Fusion about 3 months after getting mine, a couple of years ago. I got $4000 to fix it, they didnt want to total it for some reason, I think it might be from me telling them I was gonna keep it. Hahaha....
On another note, what ya looking to get out of the plug wires? I need a new set anyway....

At what point is it safe to stop morning and ask the important questions, like the EGR valve back pressure solenoid and EGR colenoid?
im glad no one was hurt.

Well I just put them on about 6 months ago. And they are great BTW lol I think I payed $125 shipped, so depending on shipping prolly $60?
That really sucks. sorry about your loss. Pavilion you say? I may be interested in the ignition coil if I don't have much to do to get it on my car. I go to AU so it's not far at all

How much would you want for the passenger front door? I'd really like if it was gutted, cause I just need the shell, but I also understand if you don't' want to spend the time doing that.

Oh cool I went to state, so I know it is about a 1 hr and 20 min drive haha
Yeah, I have some pin connectors with weather-proof clips so I just cut the wires on the harness side. The connector I made actually has a female to female pigtail, so all you do is clip it in. I have some spare stuff too that I was gonna clip on my old coil in case something happened so its a easy swap.
If you are interested send me a PM and I can meet you out there when we both have some time.
Thanks

I think it would be mad expensive to ship something like that. Prolly weights 40 lbs and it would have to be put on a pallet or something. If you can figure something out I will take it off and strip it down for you.

I hope your OK, sometimes things dont show up for a day or two. Don't try to ride anything out that doesnt feel right.
Would the EGR back pressure transducer, EGR solenoid and EGR valve be available? (I asked before but I didnt see the post)

Not sure, where exactly would they be located on my car? I haven't tried to rip the hood open yet haha.

I can email you a scan from the manual. The backpressure transducer is the big round thing next to the fuel filter. Other two I have to send you a scan :)
Still feeling OK I hope.
