So i have searched and have not really been able to find what has to be done to put a STI steering rack on a BD.
is it a direct swap, i have noticed some of you have done this so i was just wondering what it takes?.

any help would be awesome.
thanks Bluebaru

I know reuben has installed one on his gtb. I would think it's compatible... Have been thinking about this myself.

I would think there might be some issues since the STi has a wider track, but if you have adjustable links it may be possible...

the older GC racks maybe straight bolt-in but I know for a fact the USDM STI racks, the only one that will lineup to the crossmember is the 04 one, the 05's have a reinforced crossmember that uses a different mounting system for the steering rack. What's more important is the yoke for the steering column, the turbo cars use a different spline pattern, youll need to either swap a turbo steering column or find a way to adapt your column and U joint to slip onto the sti rack.

The better solution would be to get a quick rack (11:1 ratio even a rally 10.5:1 or quicker version is available) it uses a GC rack for a core and its muuuch quicker than the slightly-quicker than stock STI rack.

that's what the revlabs quickrack basically is; its a rebuild oem steering rack with a much quicker ratio. There are also steering columns that have a reducing gearbox that does the same thing that are made for subarus. Youre best bet, honestly, is to go to NASIOC's steering/suspension forum and search for those threads as its much better of a explanation.
