I know the Japanese make alot of cool stuff for the new roos but was there ever really a tuner market in Japan for the 90-94 legacy? I have a 90 wagon and I kinda feel left out. Why is it I can buy a boy kit for an 86 toyota tercel/cleica/supra but There is squat for us?
Are we just not mainstream yet? I don't want a body kit for my BJ but just to have Tein acknowledge us would be nice. Maybe some HID projectors?
Hey tuner companies!!! 90-94 Subaru Legacy!! We are out there! My wagon will smoke your Tercel! (not if is has been rotoryized or suped up obviously)
WHERE IS MY CAT BACK EXHAUST? WHERE IS MY AEM CAI???? WHERE IS MY BOLT ON TURBO KIT? WHERE IS MY UTEC? MY BEEFED FUEL INJECTORS?
WHERE IS MY BORED OUT THROTTLE BODY? WHERE ARE MY TRICK FLOW HEADS? MY HEADERS? YOU GET THE POINT! IF A 93 CHEVY CAVALIER CAN GET TRICK PARTS THEN I FEEL I SHOULD GET SOMETHING.

of course, on a cavalier, they can make more money on these products because the OEM headers, pistons, fuel injectors, etc go bad after 120k. I feel for ya
I have a 95, and even though they're BG/BD/BK cars, they get left out of the descriptions for aftermarket parts a lot, and that makes it hard to find stuff.....
Glad I found this site where I don't feel like the only subaru owner in the midwest...

Check out some New Zealand or UK sites, thats all they tune over there are older BC/BF's, like the RS legacy's and other models we never got here. Check out our buddies over at www.uklegacy.com (http://www.uklegacy.com) and ask them what can be done, I'm sure they could give you some ideas or point you in the direction of some vendors, maybe do some overseas shopping from the convienence of your home! There used to be a member on here from New Zealand, Sperla123 that was all into the oldschool legacy tuning scene that could've given you some great information. Your best bet would be to import a jdm legacy engine and get yourself some crazy parts from across the pond, cause you won't find much at all here.

I already have an EJ20 DOHC N/A sitting in my garage but I am saving that for a future project. I just want to tweak on my DD. I don't want to go the "ghetto" auto parts store aftermarket route because I am true to the Roo. I want stuff that was made for my car only. I'm sure that alot of people will understand this too.
Thanks for the info on other members and the link to that site. I don't care if I have to have stuff shipped here from across the pond as it just makes it that much cooler. Us USDM'ers can't get enough JDM stuff and if you you say otherwise you are just lying to yourself. Take for instance Mr. JDMCONNECTED....that car is soooo hot that it makes me want to pack up all my stuff and move to Japan. Have any of you taken a look at Suabru's Japanese website? Where is the little drooley icon guy when I need him? Granted there are a lot of hoooooooot JDM cars that we can just ogle over (skylines and the likes) and never have but for us Roo lovers they make some cool stuff.
Thanks again for the help.

Which guys? The ones at UKlegacy.com or that tuning spec site? The latter didn't have anything for the BC/BF's, so your still out of luck there. I'll keep my eyes open for dealers, best bet would be to rob some links from bbs.legacycentral.org or the like, lol, and post them here so you Legacy classic guys can get your kicks as well.

like i've said before; it takes a little more imagination, patience and a good sense of humor to mod a 1st gen.

The tuningspec guys were worthless. Pardon me for not having an STi....but if you have one..they are your best friend.
If I had an STi I wouldn't be looking for go fast or look goodies...who am I kidding! I would want every JDM part I could get my hands on.

Sorry to disappoint, 2deadlegs, but when it comes to the Legacy, we're pretty much the red-headed-stepchild of the aftermarket world. :(
However, you can bolt on quite a few WRX pieces (Esp suspension!!), considering our cars are like, the grandparents to the WRXs.
If you're looking for ricey stuff, like intakes, and pulleys, I could point you in a direction, however, I also have research and such to back up my claim against aftermarket intakes for the EJ22. (t and NA) They're just a bad idea, even so, your stock intake is fine.
Another thing to consider is that the EJ22T has waaay more potential, when it comes to mods, than does the NA. Sad but true, I'm afraid.

Seems like no matter what USDM Legacy you have that a swap is the only true option for some serious performance. I agree with Tris, the EJ22t would be a great option for you, if you arent able to locate a JDM ej20t or locate the funds to ship it to the states. Check out UKlegacy.com and ask them over there, I know some of them have some serious BC's and could help you out with JDM stuff, maybe give you a website or two, just hope they have a currency translator or accept USD.

I think the other thing to keep in mind is safety, when it comes to JDM parts. Let's not forget that, as cool as those parts are, they were designed from the ground up to be driven in a world completely opposite ours. (In a driving sense, other side of the world is akin to other side of the road) I guess what I'm getting at is, I know most of you want JDM lighting setups. That's usually one of the first functional, aesthetic mods one can make when it comes to 'Jay-dee-em parts, yo!'
However, please, please, please keep in mind the safety and driving comfort of the people you share the road with. JDM lights, and even EDM and ADM (that's europe and australia, kids. ) lights throw a different kind of light in front of you, and to different places. (RHD cars would have the lights inherently aimed differently, and EDM lighting setups tend to have higher aim to illuminate roadsigns. --Again, on the OTHER side of the road. )
There are EDM legacy headlights available, with city-lights and 3 position auto-aim(levelers), housed in glass lenses. JDMs have been seen similarly, so it looks like the US and canadia got stuck with the yellowed plastic. :(
That's my rant. JDM parts are great, and all, mostly cause of the NHTSA here prevents us from ever having fun on the road. :( ..that, and japan always gets the cool shit. I mean, how sexy are American schoolgirls?
Yeah, that's what I thought..

I don't know...some of the girls I go to school with are pretty hot....
I do agree with the rant, though....yellowed plastic is my biggest nemesis right now....I think I'll start a thread about getting better headlight housings, or fixing my current ones cheaper....

I have a cheap, easy (well, not on the wrists) fix for the yellowed headlights. There IS light at the end of the shaft. :D

yeah, plastic polish works for about a week and then it 'fogs' over again....its kinda annoying, but it helps a little. That's what I've tried..

There are allot of fixes to the yellow. I know Josh from USMB did an article about sanding them and using clear coat to seal it. I've heard that you can use rubbing compound with a pollishing wheel at low speed. Mine aren't too far gone yet but I am considering my options. I have a spare set kicking around that I will try various methods on and see which one works the best.

Thanks for the shouts of the forum Ryan :)
All you guys are very welcome over at www.uklegacy.com (http://www.uklegacy.com) if you want to find out anything about the 2L turbo versions of the car, although to be perfectly honest RS Liberty forums are the best place as they have way more members and way more info.
Feel free to drop by though. :D

Thanks for the invite Jim. Just what we need some more people rubbing our faces in what we can't have.
I'm just kidding. We will have to check it out. Maybe we have an exporter of UKDM Subaru parts now????
Well I dunno about that exactly but there's some good links on the site so you could email the different places and see if they will ship out to the US for a start I suppose. :)
