y do the subie automatic trannys act like standerds minus the clutch and shifting such as the rolling back and how u have 2 give it a little tap on the gas b4 it actualy clicks in2 gear and goes

I'd say it's more to do with the shifter actuation or the throttle position. When you put a Subaru 4EAT or 5EAT into D, it'll start to roll the car forward (if on level ground).

try checking the atf in the tranny if its low it can cause stupid problems in shifting

i have checked the tranny fluid and ive heard its all subie auto trannys like theres a hesitation b4 it clicks and goes also my gf's car does the same thing she has a 94 legacy wagon also a few of the people i no say there trannys do the same thing sp its not just me

your shift solenoids are stuck open to a certain point. you can either replace them or try to do and transflush every 500miles for 3 times and put lucas auto trans fix in everytime. its common for shift solenoids to get stuck on older car especially subaru because the 4wd puts extra stress on the trans off the line

I have a related question i have a 97 lgt and my trns shifts hard to 2nd and slow or long to 3rd also sometimes when i get on it and let off it shifts kinda jerky? anyone got any clue on what i can do for this?

Clean up your electrical grounds
change your ATF fluid

mine did this too but it was the brake bands thing i just losened the bolt right under the starter and it took away my hesitation to shift into third
