Hello all, thought I'd register to see if I could get some help with my problem.

I had been experiencing a high idle at start and I thought it was just the engine being cold, but 6 months later I get a CEL and my throttle basically stops working in the 0-15% range. Because I have a 5MT, this makes smooth shifting impossible as it's either 0% throttle or 15%+. The car also seems to lugg and chugg in lower ranges of throttle input sometimes.

Anyway, the code was P0122, the throttle position sensor so I ordered one from Autozone and replaced it. I thought it was working, but it turned out I forgot to plug it back in (long day, long story). When I finally plugged it back in, the problem returned, and so did the CEL.

Should I go order a TPS from Subaru and see if that cures it? Not much information on this problem around the web or the forums. And thanks for your replies.

Further Google searching has inspired me to check my wires. My father did his first engine swap on my car last year so there is the possibility that the circuit is faulty and not the TPS. Too bad I already threw the old one out... :(

TPS could be misaligned too, I'd check that out.

I had the same code a while ago, turned out to be a dirty throttle body which fixed it.

Hi, is there any update about this post? My friend is needing a replacement of the throttle position and we're wondering how much did you get it from Autozone? Also, were you able to fix the issue? It seems the issue wasn't completely solved? I'll appreciate other opinions. :?:
