Oil filter expirement, help would be appreciated

I plan on doing an oil filter experiment and post up my findings in a sticky. A similar one was done on the web but I plan on using Legacy specific filters. So I ask if you would like to help and want to know how a filter you use compares with another please donate a unused filter (must be correct part numbers) I'm going to post of filters I like to use. if a filter you want to be compared with others let me know. I'm pretty sure all the EJ series engines use the same part numbers but feel free to object if you know other wise. You can either donate a filter of choice (please ask if I have that filter yet) or you can donate the cost of one and I can buy the one you want (just to save on shipping charges).

maybe do a comparison of subaru's old brand of filter vs. their new brand.. as they are different. would be nice to see the difference between those as well. someone donate a napa filter too!

Exactly what I wanted to do, I didn't even think of searching there. It might still be a good idea to do this myself so we can check out different filters.

I don't have any decent filters to donate.. just fram and maybe an STP kickin around somewhere. Is your car the 2.2 or 2.5? Be more interesting to see the 2.5 results.

The turbocharged EJ engines use a different, smaller oil filter to clear the exhaust crossover.. You probably knew that, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

How about K&N filters? I think that the large Subaru oil filter is the same as the large Honda oil filter (the NAPA part number is the same anyway) so there is probably a K&N one available.

I'll take any unused oil filter that are parts numbers for the EJ22 and 3d, which I THINK they are the same. It's been awhile since I got one for a 25. But the K&N filter is the same part number.

Nope, they're all the same now. The only Subaru that uses a different filter is the H6 engine.

How about K&N HP-1004? I know the Autopart Stores computer lists the hp-1015, but the 1004 is what K&N's website shows as compatible with my cars (EJ22T, EJ25D and my old EJ22E) based on the cross reference to the fram 3593. No store by me stocks the 1015 (which also cross references to the 3593). The 1004 is slightly taller but adds an anti-drain back valve over the 1015.
