Anyone have a modified scoop on their hood?

Looking to buy a used L hood and cutting in a scoop. Anyone take a scoop from a WRX, STI, or JDM Subie and modify it to fit into an Legacy hood? Just trying to get ideas then after all is done sell my GT hood. Post pics of your setup! :smt023

pretty straight forward other than your more or less ruining a good hood once you cut into it. trace out the openings, inset the line a good half inch, cut the hole, flange the edge, work out a way to fasten the scoop to the inner hood structure.. i used aluminum plates which looks nice.. um... do a little filler work and your set

that would be for the wrong generation of legacy (99 in japan = 2000 in US)

someday i hope to do a full sti or tribeca swap. for now its the typical intake exhaust wheels, wrx struts, springs, wrx cobb swaybars, wrx steering wheel and then since i'm the paint guy its got custom paint(now) rolled fenders, shaved moldings, jdm fender lights, painted jdm headlights, b4 sti wing, mk3 jetta bumper as an air dam and probably a few other things... soon it's going to have 7" fog lights tucked into the bumper and should look like an evo 5ish era... should be pretty nice. still has some clunks in the suspension though during weight transfer side to side... i bought the car wrecked so chances are it had a hard life before i got it.

Okay I will speak up and post mine, I think sti would of been wayyy to huge, my wrx is perfect height.

well.. a few years back this guy bailed on a job and never paid me... he did leave behind a bmw e36 lip... when my friend had me rebuild his blue legacy after we picked it up from auction the front bumper really needed some love... i ended up grafting it into his bumper... the lip looked something like this

Thanks for the heads up. I looked all over trying to find a good carbon fiber hood with scoop for the 99 second gen. but most places i looked did not have any pictures, and i thought that one i finally found a picture of was for 1999 but i guese not sorry for the confussion.

it took probably 4-5hrs of molding, fusing and filling to get it in place. i primarily use fusor 114 adhesive which works great with bonding anything to bare plastic (scuffed with 80grit)... its fairly expensive though and so for doing a whole bumper lip graft like this i'll typically use the fusor for the structural stuff on the backside and then use some plastic adhesion promotor and primer for the outside just to get a compatible surface and then sand that lightly and fill any gaps/voids with fiberglass filler and then finishing off the entire bodywork process with regular filler and/or glaze.. followed by priming again and finally paint. its a rather long process tbh and if these had been done on a customers car they probably would have cost wayyy too much to do and they would have left it alone. but since it was for my friends they kind of get the hookup. to answer your hold up question, yeah its basically a bit more rigid than a stock bumper, but holds up very very nice... it didnt sit down really any lower than stock so it fits over parking curbs which is a huge plus

How did you get your headlights so clear?

fortunately my lights where in excellent condition when i go them, only having minor "yellowing".. i scuff/sanded them down with 1000grit/gray scotchbrite, used an automotive plastic primer (clear), and then clearcoated them. Since then I haven't had to buff or polish them since.

That looks good, but the 06-07 (like we discussed in another thread) is the right height and style I am looking for. Very agressive, but not o4 sti agressive.
