My car just got hit...

Somehow while I was parked someone ran into a Honda civic which then pushed the Honda into my door between the driver and rear passenger.. the damage does not look that bad but I did take pictures.

lol Subaru FTW the person who hit the honda that in turned hit me fled so I don't know if the cops are going to try looking for them or not.. a lot of people seem to love to fly down here or back out quick.. someone that saw it called the cops.

when they move the honda out of the way I will check it.. but it does not seem all that bad.

oh man so I went out for a little drive to check things (it's ok) but I had perfect timing when I came back.. I ran into the women who's car got hit.. she lives about 5 hours from here and I showed her the car on my camera she was so pissed..

anyways here is the aftermath.. not bad.. I don't know how I can get that powdery plastic off without making huge scratch marks.. all this stuff is making me think of a total repaint..

you could probably rub hat plastic right off with your thumb just heat it up a little bit by rubbing it for a min. just wash that section real quick so your not rubbing the dirt in then wax it when your done. Sucks that some asshole did that and then boned out.

Good thing that Honda has a soft bumper, you dodged a dent. A lot of that actually might rub/buff right out...

That sucks Mike.... it could have been worse. Rubbing compound should take that stuff out no problem. I got hit 2months ago on the high way (nothing bad) I had all scuff marks on my rear bumper. Rubbing compound did the trick.

Yeah, what he said. However, I'd obviously wait til her insurance company looks at your car first. Unless CT insurance agency follow different procedures.

If it doesn't com right off with compound, try a little wax and grease remover then a 1500 grit wetsand and light buff. The molding can be heated and flexed back into place, sand and repaint with flat/satin black.

Honestly, if you feel it's not worth it... it's not worth it.

you got hit, so you wont be putting a claim on your insurance. Her insurance would be paying you. So yes get her info and get paid. Whatever money you get can be put towards your project you got going on.

I would get her info. and then go get an estimated cost to fix the damage.
most likely her insurance will try to dog you since from what it sounds like, she wasn't in the car.
contact your insurace and they will go after them. don't let them push you around.

my wifes car got backed into. if someone didn't see it happen, I bet she would have never noticed.
now she should be getting $500-650, just to replace a bumper.

Exactly what these guys said try and get it fixed threw the insurance if possible so no out of pocket for you. but as they said if you cant get any thing or they going to string you out the tips above should work good. The wax and grease remover works wonder like a paint thinner, and the compund should get most the sratches out. is the driver door molding detached? looks like it hanging down a bit loose? or just slid down? you could always you heat gun/hair dryer to take it off after you get new one from dealer or such. they usually have like a double sided tape and are easy to line up and put on. some molding the manufature put mettel/aluminum like strips in so the bend on purpose to make you buy a new one. ie. you remove it and the metal bends up and leaves a tacky looking molding when you go to put back on. well best of luck to ya.

the molding near the front wheel has always been broken, it's been like that since I brought the car in march.. Amazing as it is the owner kept it in the side pocket on the door. the rear part is coming up.. but I never knew the dealer stocked something like that?

also the scratches are long gone

yeah depending on how old it is the dealer should be able to get the door molding just make sure its the right color. the body shop i used to work for didnt like ever re-applying door moldings if we had to do body work and pain on doors becuase of the ripple/wavy look so almost every time we did door work brand new molding where put on. but with wide ammount of colors it always sucked last minute to find out it was shade or color lol. good luck
