Trans line resistor Q's ...The truth is out there

ok, so i am just getting that 97 outback back together after stealing the good motor etc. so here i have this outback..that runs(rough) with bad HGs and the trans is iffy at best....

my question is this.

on dads old 94 SVX there was a resistor/connector behind the battery that would change the trans line pressure.

if you took it out(open circuit)
the shifts would be very hard

if you left it in(resisted circuit)
the shifts would be softer

if you took it out and put a resister in w/ double the resistance
the shifts would be somewhere in between.


is there something like this on the second jen legacies?

is it built in to the TCU?

anyone got the wiring diragrams?

i got this link off the web, but i dont think he said where he put the resistor, or even whan gen of legacy hes talking about?

now i notice its for 89-94 leggies...but still....

bottom line its a 4EAT($EAT..haha) and should have that line pressure resistance somewhere involved.

also, im not sure what a (25)watt resistor is, ive always seen them measured in OHMs....thoughts?

ok, so where can i find the trans wiring diagrams for the 97 legacy/outback? ive looked thru my FSM and each file is some huge MZ##%#%&@( type number so its hard to go thru those, but i have and havent found the diagrams im looking for. anyone?
