Blacked out headlights for a 3rd gen

has anyone painted the light on any third gen legacy wether it be outback, or sedan or whatever. Im just curious on what it looks like. They look nice on the previous and newer gens, but once again something else that was skipped on the 3rd. :(

If you decide to do it.. make a DIY. Would be pretty cool and apply for other models as well.

Im going to try to find a lamp in the junkyard from a 3rd gen, and mess around and install it onto mine and see what it would look like, but if anyone comes across it before let me know, i will probably start looking in the summer for a lamp

when you say blacked out do you mean the whole outer lens or just non-reflective inside pieces? imo both methods are a bit useless one reduces light output the other wont paint much as we have the outline piece inside that covers everything non-reflective

you mean the surrounds? The GT's come blacked out like that. Not sure if you mean completely black like using niteshade spray or something

I was reading on legacyGT about how people blacked out the inside of their lights, and yours is a good example of a 3rd gen. thanks :D
how did you do the projectors? how well do they light? and what did they come from?

like i said previously there is not a lot of material you can black out inside the light without affecting light output, small area by the blinker and a little around low beams the rest is needed to properly reflect the light if you black out the reflectors you will not see much at night.

And like dodik said, the only thing you can really black in a 3rd gen headlight are the trim surrounds that you can unscrew from the clear front half. The rest is reflective material to project light outward. People can "black out" projector-type headlights because you only need the lens to be clear to maintain light output.
