97 GT 2 Pot calipers on 98 Brighton?

got some GT 2pot calipers to put on my 98 Brighton which only has the single pistons calipers

Are the brackets and calipers just bolt on? Will I have to get GT rotors and pads?

Might as well get some rotors while ur at it.. and also if you have the know how, or want to find out.. rebuild the calipers while they are out with new gaskets and clean em up real good.

Here is some info from cars101:

98 brighton

power 10.1" front disk. Rear drum
Anti-Lock Brakes - 4 disk 10.1" front,10.5" rear, 4 channel



1997 GT:

4 channel Anti lock (ABS) vented front disc (10.9") with
dual caliper pistons, rear disc (10.5")


1998 GT:

Anti-Lock Brakes, 4-channel ABS
Front: heavy duty vented 10.7 disc with dual caliper piston,
Rear: 10.5" disc


1999 GT:

4 channel Anti-Lock Brakes
Heavy duty, dual caliper piston,
Front: 10.7"
Rear : 10.5"

You'll have a better brake bias if you convert to rear disk brakes...

Add to that some brake fluid (I used Dot 4 synthetic) and new pads & you're good to go.

I've got a complete rear disc conversion if you want. I'll let it go for cheap if you take it off my GT. You can even have my GT shocks all around and the entire spindle. brakes + hubs + shox :-D

Cause the Brighton and L models have smaller calipers/less pistons.

Well I won't speak for Tire Rack, but from experience owning a 97 L and accomplishing the swap. LSi/GT front rotors ARE bigger than L fronts, but the rears are the same. Try Wikipedia and see for yourself.

The part numbers match because they use the same 2 piston caliper.
If you're a rotor manufacturer, why would you make a different sized rotor for such a small number of applications? If it fits, and there's no obviously difference in braking performance, then a smart manufacturer uses the same part for a range of vehicles.
Otherwise, you're wasting production money.
