So as you can see from these pictures my wheel or somthing has been rubbing my strut the wrong way. I just bought this car a month ago and I am currently fixing it up to be my super DD. I have noticed that the wheel does ride very very close to the strut but not enough to do that kind of damage.

So i come to you in search of possible answers and maybe past experiences. Has anyone seen this before? MY main intent is to try and run a 225/70/15 on the car but with the tire already so close to the strut I don't know if I can do it at all. Thank you in advance for your help. :D

Car Details:
The car is a 1999 Legacy Outback.
The current tires are 205/60/15.
Car has 170k on it

you've had the car a month, how do you know the damage wasn't there previously? It looks like something was picked up by a tire (stone, rock) and hit the strut.

Do you have any rubbing sounds when the car is loaded up?

225 on a 15" wheel is kinda silly unless you're autoxing. You'd want to roll and pull the fender to get some clearance and/or switch to a coilover so that your strut/spring clearance is greater.

well i assume it was there previously. This is just as far as I have made it in my detective work. I havent heard any rubbing noises. The 225 isnt as imprtant as the /70/ i really want a 75 but i dont think the wheel well has room. I will be doing rally-x/off roading with this and wanted more hight via tires.

sorry cant see the pics at work, but why not just go with a 205-75-15. it will be over 2 inches larger in diameter than stock and only 0.3 inch shorter than a 225-70 and wont make it any wider...

StatGSR Yes i that is a good idea. The only problem is that If you look at the tire and the strut they are very very close to each other the tire pretty much rides right underneath the strut and if i go any bigger i dont think it will fit. ill have to take a picture of that and add it later
