torx or hex, can't remember. Either way a HUGE annoyance till I tightened it.

It's a torx on drivers side. I tightened it myself as the bass coming from the trunk made it go down.

there is a little plastic thing that goes on the ball of the mirror that breaks. I had the same problem and found the little plastic thing at a junk yard for free.

I had the same problem when I first got my Legacy. Just driving down the freeway would move it down. I fixed it, but now evertime my sub hits hard it does falls down like crazy. I cant get 15 seconds into some songs before its down to where I cant see out of it.

I have tightened that torx screw so many times and it always ends up getting loose again.
:( I am at the point where I am ready to get another mirror from the subaru wrecker.

mine stays tight for about a month then i have to tighten it again it does get annoying
There's a rubber washer in there that is supposed to help things stay tight I think but after time it gets really worn out. I've been just tightening the heck out of it every now and then but any day now I think I'm going to crack the assembly.
