subaru cannot be adjusted for camber?

Okay guys. I called around for the least expensive alignment. so i found one and the guy asks me "what's wrong with it" well I replaced the tie rod ends and prior to that the toe was way off and the passenger side is off camber. The guy then said to me "subaru's don't have adjustable camber" So guys correct me if I'm wrong, on the strut where the top of the hub mounts to it.. there are two bolts. The bottom hole for the bolt is perfectly circular and the upper bolt hole is almost an oval. that oval like hole is there so that you can adjust the camber. Am I wrong?

he's full of it, on the front struts the top bolt on the knuckle is a cam bolt that can be adjusted for camber. Depending on the year, the rears can be adjusted as well. What year leg is this for?

It's my 97 LSi. It sounded to me like he was trying to get out of having to adjust the camber and pull a "I'm the average every day customer". I knew the fronts were but i wasn't to sure on the back. Must not be ASE certified or something. :smt021

I've found a few alignment shops trying to pass off the same line to me when I've had the subaru and a couple of other cars aligned. Most cars with Macpherson struts (which there are a lot) have that cam bolt on the knuckle to adjust the camber incrementally.

yeah I was reading up on that strut. pretty popular replacement for the impreza. Maybe it's a dreaded thing to do on a subie? Pain in the a$$ to set?

Replacement?! Macpherson struts are a design... And factory on subarus. Hardly a pita.

yes i know, people swap them out because their rear strut is not adjustable for camber. Impreza particularly. "rally".

Another thing or two I found was adjustable camber arms and camber plates. More convenient and way easier to adjust than the strut.

Lots of alignment shops are lazy. That is why I saved a ton of money and did my own alignment on my WRX. I didn't get as much negative front camber as I had wanted, but -2 in the front and -2 in the rear is pretty good.

Going to need camber bolts for the rear, one of the rears is WAY out, one is -2, the other is -1.2 or something like that.

Toe is the major one. Doing a thrustline alignment is pretty easy, you adjust the rear toe to 0 (on Subaru), and then you adjust the front toe to 0 with the steering wheel straight and level. I got my rears to 0.01 degrees and 0.02 degrees, and the fronts are just as close. Obviously, over time that will change.

Caster is not adjustable on our cars unless you do modifications.
