I have an EJ22E that i was going to totally rebuild to run boost. I have a set of EJ22T pistons i want to swap into the short block. But i have hit a small road block and don"t have the funds to do a total rebuild. The motor i am working on has been checked out and is in great shape, so is there anyway i can swap the turbo pistons and run it for a while? I usually wouldn't even think about this but my 22e in my car has shit the bed and i am in dire need of a car.

Sure, they have the same bore size, but your compression would be noticeably lower/car much slower.

Well, i would be puttin the turbo and all associated parts on it. I would only run like 5lbs of boost. Just to get the car drivable again. It sucks only having one car. lol. And as far as i know i would have to pull the rods off to swap pistons. SO wouldn't i have to worry about the rod bearings? Or is there a way around that. I am still fairly new to the Subie motors, but I have rebuilt a couple Honda's in the past and you always had to take the rod completely off the crank to do work like that.

you need to pull the motor to do pistons. and theres access holes to pull out the wrist pins.

Does subaru think of everything!! That is awesome. I already have the spare motor out so that isn't a problem. Thanks for that link to the video. Thats awesome.

If you're gonna go back in and put forged parts in the future, personally I wouldn't swap the rod bearings. But then again, rod/main bearings are only $80 on ebay. You should get the crank micro-polished if you do use new bearings.

Well, when i do get a chance to fully rebuild the motor its gonna et torn completely down. Sadly time and family things keep that from happening right now.
