Howdy folks, Im about 1/2 through the wiring and once thats finished Ill be pulling the old EJ22. In the meantime Ill use this thread to hopefully get some help from all the JDM swappers here. The engine is a MY01 EJ205 from a JDM forester GT

A few questions:

1) Will my stock BK crossmember work?
2) Is there any way to retain the OBD? The JDM harness has a OBD port plug.

The answer to q. 1 is you'll need an engine crossmember from a turbo car. The up-pipe won't fit otherwise.

Would a 07 STi GDF crossmember work?

^^ I don't know about cars that new. The STI had some front end changes (suspension, location of bolt holes, wider track, etc), but I don't know if that makes a difference as far as the fitment of the turbo crossmember goes.

1st gen turbo legacys (both wagon and sedan) will work. Heard Baja & 5th gen legacy will work too, but don't quote me (surely someone here tried them and written about it?).

'04 STi crossmember going in, the bracket points for the swaybar are different on the STi xmember so Im wondering if the STi's swaybar will bolt in?

Should fit as long as you use the sti end links bolt. As far as I know there is no major differences with crossmember in terms of track length. Its the control arms that are tad longer. But I could be wrong..

If you use the STI xmember you will need the STI endlinks and swaybar. As for your JDM engine retaining OBD functions, no, there is no OBD system in Japan.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I just want to verify that the WRX/STI front subframe will fit on a BD, but will require the use of matching control arms and sway bar. Would the STI aluminum control arms work fine on BD spindles? I was hoping to do these anyway... What about the subframe stiffener on these models that goes around the front/sides of the subframe?

1) X-member / Subframe will work if you use the endlinke / sway bar from the same generation.
2) Both the GC and GD control arms will bolt on to the spindles.. The GD arms are a bit wider so wide-track.
3) IIRC you need a H-Brace thats gen specific to your subframe. So if you use a GC subframe you need the GC H-brace.. etc...
