So my 01 lgt with 147k pump is whining now, had the timing belt done and all new belts. Checked for tightness. Popped the lid to the resivour and see large bubbles out of the line going down to the pass. Steering rack. I changed all clamps, havnt seen any signs of leaks anywhere. And still whines with bubbles. Now when am warmed up I get no whine! I put some Lucas stop leak about 100miles ago. Still whines and still bubbles... It wasn't foaming! Sooo.... Ideas? Bad pump?

the 2000 outback i had w/ 170k(now sisters), the power steering pump whines like CRAAAAZY when cold. but stops when warm. i never saw bubbles.

from your description, it sounds like the bubbles would be coming out of the reservoir return line?

I believe it's the return line it's not the line going from the res to the pump, but yeah I can't find any leaks so I'm maybe thinking the pump is going out on me...
