Have my 01 lgt sedan on orginal looking struts and springs. Going KYB front and rear I think but I would like a 1" tiny drop. I'm DD for this legacy so I want comfort and nothing harsh, 5mt springs on auto anyone?

Well I herd wrx will actually raise the front and also you have to swap top hats and perches.

Someone might know or tried this... Manual springs on Automatic? When I had my Lexus if you swapped springs it would lower your car. True with subarus? I would be a 260lb heavier sp I would think it would. Someone I would think has tried this... Anyone?
L sedan: 3,245 manual trans, 3,310 auto trans.
L wagon: 3,335 manual trans, 3,400 auto trans.
GT: 3440 manual, 3505 auto transmission

Pretty sure springs are the same auto to manual that weight difference is less than having an extra person in your car.
Subarus didn't come like infinity's and Lexus's where getting that manual tranny adds any sorta sport package you already have the GT model. Theres H&R springs, White-line makes springs, Tein, King springs. I know more about BD's than BE's.

 BE GT's weigh 3500lbs!!! BP, BL GT's only weight like 3300lbs... (the Spec-B is almost 3500 cuz of the 6speed)
h&R doesnt drop you as much as you may think, only about 1.25"front, 1" rear
i think thats measured before they settle tho..

Well I talked to Subaru, they did say the springs from manual to auto are Different...
I guess I will be first to try this out then if no one has. My springs are almost 10years old, I don't really want to spend $200 for springs and then money for top hats and list goes on... Rather save for $1000 coilovers. New oem springs I can get for $26 new each from the dealer.

Like I said, it's different as in they have different part no's. Anyone that has been around subarus long enough knows that two things can be completely identical but if they just changed the MY or supplier, the part no. changes.
I think its a futile attempt but its your money. Why take the high risk of it just being the same exact thing with youre going to drop a good $1-200 in the process already. The only "mild" drop springs I know for the BE/BH's are the B4 springs that drop the ride height around 10-15mm on top of a regular Legacy, then STI sport springs which drop about another 10-15mm on top of that (which is why people always get a larger than anticipated drop on STI springs as the quoted numbers are based on a B4 model).
Source some B4 springs and call it a day. At least now your B4 badge will mean something.

Now i herd different or i would get B4 springs... Since the JDM B4 are heavier in the front due to the Twin Turbo motors they do sit lower but on a NA i will right back to stock height of oem.

Just get H&R's you said you only wanted a small drop right? There like $240-$250.

one of those tiny turbos doesn't weigh more than 20lbs each. TMIC is around 15lbs, even with the extra exhaust piping, I'd be surprised if there's anything more than 70lbs extra in the front. I had B4 springs when the car was N/A, it was fine. Either way, the increased springrate is worthwhile.

What about the fact that the turbo blocks are beefier than the NA? I think it's possible that the weight different is significant enough.

Thats an interesting point, but I don't think the blocks will vary that much in weight due to added reinforcement. The twin turbo ej208's are close to the ej207's and theyre still classified as an "semi-closed deck" design, which basically means it has two extra ribs on the side of each cylinder wall as extra reinforcement. Now if it was a full-closed deck block, like on the old ej22t, where there's noticeably a lot more metal in between the cylinder space and the coolant passages then maybe it there will be a noticeable weight difference. The valvetrain and heads don't really vary in terms of basic metallurgical components (mostly aluminum with steel for the valvetrain and cams) either, I guess you can add another 10lbs for the 2 extra set of cams the DOHC has over the stock SOHC.
On NASIOC people pretty much think of the ej2xx engines as being pretty close in weight to each other...it's not like on a sbc or something where switching to more current aluminum heads will shave 70-100lbs on the motor.
Basically, sit a small woman or child on your hood and see how much your suspension sags afterwards  Its a game of mm's... if you're extremely anal then sure you'll probably notice it with a ruler, but from 10 feet away people aren't going to mistake your car for a gaser

There is certainly not going to be any difference from manual trans to auto trans springs, I can tell you that much for sure. If you want a mild drop with docile street characteristics get something from Eibach. If you want to upgrade shocks following those same guidelines I'd recommend KYB GR2s.
