Foglight Bar/ skid plate?

Well contrary to most of the leggie owners on this forum, I do not live in a large city. The majority of my driving is down roads that are paved, and tons that are not. Deer are a much too frequent occurence running out in front of the car. So I began looking for a skid plate/foglight bar that would also add some protection in the case that i do run over my dinner one night. But I really dont want to shell out the cash to buy one, when I can mandrel bend one and paint it professionally. SO does anyone have any pictures of something like I am describing? Kind of like a brush guard on a truck i would think.

but on a side note, i had a bumper made for my truck and it was pretty cheep. i went to the local community college and ask the welding teacher if anyone needed a project and wanted to make a few bucks on the side and a student made one for me

Do you want a real skidplate, or just a lightbar with a little plate curving down to protect the lip?

I would like a skidplate as the unpaved roads around here have nice sized rocks on them. I really like the bumpers on the Oregon site. I have big plans for my car that are coming to fruition.

some 3/16" plate aluminum, some bolts and washers, and some time with an angle grinder. Problem solved. There's no point in painting a skidplate if youre really going to be using it for its intended purpose. :smile: If youre going after a lightbar, just look up the rallyinnovations lightbars for imprezas, they're basically the same thing.

I have a stop sign skid plate a few hours of work bending it to fit and it works pretty well. although i bent it a bit too low. i scrape sometimes on driveways. find a sign on craigslist or ebay and you are good to go.

that is a pretty sweet idea, did you do it so the stop sign is pointing down? Just for S&G's?

rouge what are the dimensions of your skid plate? Or maybe what area should i measure underneath my car that should be covered?
