so did a motor and tranny swap in a 94 with the 2.2 sohc. while in the process put a new main seal in it. heres the prob had my buddy pull it off. he broke the timing belt without marking it for the timing marks. so i put a new one on found tdc and it just sputters when i try to start it. i dont know witch way i should adjust or if i should at all.

thats for a 2.5 dohc, just make sure the markings are aligned, its hard to get them aligned right you might have to try a couple times to get it perfect, or find out the count of teeth between the pulleys and do it that way

You have to line up the marks the right way. It's a pain because one of the cam sprockets will keep trying to move.
