The 5MT gearbox on my car is apparently on it's way to gear-heaven. So I found a crashed 2005 Outback with a possibly good gearbox.
Should this gearbox fit my EJ251?
Thanks, Danilo

be sure to check the gear ratio to make sure it matches your rear diff. or take the rear diff as well..

You need to check about the speed sensor, the BL/BP's have speed sensors are electronic and don't have it on the transmission itself, wile the older models use a gear in the transmission to get a speed to your speedo. Best to check NASIOC for peopel that have swapped these transmissions into their GC's. I don't know if the bellhousings are even removable, which is where the speed sensor is...

yes you can do it. i have an 05 outback drive train in my 01 legacy.
the speed sensor will not be the same. you have to crack open both transmissions, and swap speed sensor. also you will have to change the front diff from your transmission into the BL/BP transmission as the 4th gen have a different abs sensor than the 3rd gens. i beleive i did a writeup on it in the DIY and also in my members ride thread.
