cutting bump stops help

so my 04 wrx shocks n tein springs came in today, they are already put togather and i noticed the bump stops arnt cut, i heard everywhere you need to cut them if you get lowering springs so my question is can i be really carfull and cut them wihile there still on the strut? like if i cut really close but not all the way threw it then just brake it off or something? and how much should i cut off? just one rib thing? one seems really small like it wouldnt do anything

nm i found wat i needed else where cut the front .4 inches and leave the rears

You only waited a couple hours for replies LOL. Sorry it took a few days to get to the thread, we try not to leave people hanging though. Guess you already got things figured out, but yeah, you can reach through and cut the bumpstops.
