Here's my concept project...I want a under the hood lamp like I'm used to from all my previous cars.

I'm thinkin' bout using leds (white) or a light bar...I think a hood switch trigger (like the door switch lamps)would be kewl .

What do ya think? :D

I think it's a good idea. It'd probably be easier to go to a junk yard and snag a hood light off a GM vehicle. Many have a switch built into the light itself. Just screw it onto the hood and hook up the wire(s).

When you install a autostart on a car, theres a little button you put near the front, so whenever the hood is open the car wont autostart. You could probably use one of those and a LED light hooked up to the battery. Seems pretty simple!
Ripping one off a GM vehicle would work, but probably would be very bright.

I like it...I read the thread title, and I thought of the same switch as you did.

Go for it, post a DIY when you're done :D

That's too weird. I was on the side of the road this evening adding windshield washer fluid (with a flashlight) and thinking exactly the same thing as a good next project!

I was thinking that a few LED's shining in strategic places would be good... like the windshield washer tank!

The only thing is, im not sure if one of those switches are open or closed when theyre not pushed down. Im sure it wouldnt be hard to find something like that in an electrical shop anyway, or off another vehicle

closed when down. Take one off a legacy door.
