Car looks great with those wheels and grillless. What is that grey supposed to be in the center of the bumper? It looks different but goes well. Also as soon as you start modding you will probably blow those head gaskets out like I did at 93,000. All though I never really babied the LGT.

Thanks man, the grey is just kind of my way of doing something different. When i bought it i guess the previous owner had ran it into a curb so the entire lower half of the bumper was stripped. So i figured if i repaint it i might as well do something slightly different. Only problem is the paint shop sent me the wrong chip guard that apparently wasnt for plastics, it reacted a little with it and gummed up a bit. :smt011 so up close the bumper is textured like hell... and it doesn't even resist all the stones i get flung at me on the highway.

haha most of my modifying will be to the looks and interior for now, until the motor goes. Its just my commuter car, its automatic, and i kinda like the 26-29 mpg i get with it cause i drive like 75 miles a day. HOWEVER, i graduate with my mechanical engineering degree this fall, and when the time comes with the motor, i'd love to do a manual swap and rebuild the motor ground up

lol i baby the hell out of mine for that reason. I just rolled over 135k today... yuck :-( . As far as i can tell you got yours running again though! more power to you  just think now its good forever.... lol i wish.

Anyone have opinions on summer wheels?

Im thinking some 18" gunmetal Enkei EKM3's? Im getting STi springs and struts before anything. BUT

car looks great man. those enkei's are hot! i was considering them for my wagon before deciding on my ssr's...

jzignig
05-06-2010, 08:42 PM
So i had a day off for once and decided to make good use of it. Deciding what to do my buddy and i ran around town. Wound up stopping in the fabric store to get him leather for his dash, and i spotted some grey suede that i liked on clearance. SOOO....

DOOR CARDS!
Before
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/05/DSCN3890-1.jpg
New fabric on card... Sorry i had enough to make a step by step but i deleted some by accident. haha

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/05/DSCN3887-1.jpg
I then decided the wood grain needed to change. And well, the cap matched...
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/05/DSCN3894-1.jpg
But it turned out so bright its ridonculous, so i need to get a better match to the cards for the locks.
Look at that sucker! looks white.

And heres a few random ones, including a few of my 15:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/05/DSCN3877-1.jpg
ohhh and whats hiding behind that seat?
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/05/DSCN3879-1.jpg

And by the way. Never go into a fabric store as a group of two guys. More than likely, the clerk will be gay if he is a guy. And more than likely, you will be hit on. Fair warning. :-?

seeing this, give me some motivation to finely do my door cards. looks good
mine have no fabric at the moment. I ripped my fabric right off the door, lol

05-07-2010, 10:09 AM
hahaha, as long as you got all that glue junk off it probably doesnt even look bad without fabric. but thank you for the comments.

and i know theres a tutorial for this already. I just wanted to show the process that i used

The enkeis are so nice you can disreguard a few pounds on your weight goal :smt023

Nice job on the DIY lip. Super clean! I'd go bronze or dark silver for the wheels. I painted mine gold earlier this spring and Im kicking myself for not going bronze. Much more subtle, yet they still contrast well with the dark car.

Thanks man :smt023

I like the bronze idea a lot too but i figured with the bumper dark grey or gunmetal would be the best option.
We will see though, Im gonna be tight on cash this year, on the look out for a street bike  haha

Sorry Airgne, if you meant the title, it has been changed.

As for the car since i haven't updated in a long time, it went through a full rebuild about 2 months ago, and has been treating me well. I am installing a full borla UEL, resonated catless to STI midpipe and axleback exhaust within the next month or so, and have finally got a roof rack so i dont have to take a truck to go mountain biking.

A few pictures:

I'm thinking with a large resonator in place of them it shouldn't be. Its either resonator or high flow cat, depends what the prices look like when i ask the shop to weld it up.

jzignig
10-19-2011, 10:10 AM
Exhaust sound clip: STI Axleback, midpipe, high flow cat, borla knockoffs. deep, droney, and subtle. This car is automatic, so i didn't want anything too aggressive sounding, this is about perfect.

Haven't updated on here for a while. I think all thats been changed on the car is the grille and sti suspension. Still my baby. 170,000 miles strong. Plan on new wheels for tax return money, tanabe springs and hopefully a respray for the front bumper and hood before WBM in june.
