so i gunned it out of my schools parking lot today and after lunch some kid asked me if i had a turbo because he heard a whistle when i took off. evidently when i hit about 4k rpm you can hear a whistle from the muffler when ur outside of the car. do i have to high or too low of backpressure? is this a good or bad thing. does it even matter?

I've never heard of a whistle.
find out where its coming from (if its even the exhaust) and then maybe you can make a diagnosis.

Are you asking if its a good thing to sound turbo'ed and not have a turbo, or is the whistle a potential problem?
I've got a slight whistle from my intake from time to time and its hilariously awesome. Makes me think for a moment, I'm getting more air through forced induction... but alas....

yeah, that's why I asked if it was coming from the exhaust...my intake whistles a little, but not my exhaust.
did someone sneak a whistle tip in on you?
it goes," WHOOO WHOOO IN 'THA MORNING!"

2) no, i doubt it matters
3) Ive learned that people usually dont know what theyre talking about when talking to me about my car

Could just be intake noise that you can't hear inside the car...I doubt the guy knows what he's talking about.

that sounds like the only logical thing. im sure its not the intake and its not an exhaust leak. i had a friend from work rev the engine and i heard it coming out of the muffler. he is a technician and he says its common and that eclipses have the same whistle. i dont think its a bad thing but i would rather not have it. and i wasnt trying to impress anyone, its just hard to get out of the parking lot when theres 2000 kids who just got their license rushing out the same intersection.

Amen I hate kids. Im a sophmore and kids are so stupid about cars. I get in arguments all the time like explaining how honda's dont have V-4's. Some kid today told me he did 165 mph in his stock 1.8T Golf that runs out of gear at 135.
On my old 02 RS it sounded like I had a BOV, all I had was an OBX intake and exhaust. I never figured out what it was and I never had and issues from it.
