Forester trans into LGT?

Currently on restrictions (no turbo cars) for until May next year and have a Forester engine and trans (don't know if it's auto or manual) lined up for a pretty cheap price. Still need to contact the person if it comes with anything else.

I have two options:
- Keep current auto (bad torque converter i assume, solenoids broken)
- Labor of taking out the trans, looking at what's wrong and fixing will be hefty (already done 180k kms)
- Don't sell single solenoids if I want to replace one
- Torque converter is costly to buy a replacement

OR

- Buy the low km Forester trans
- Pay for labour

Both work out to around the same price. What should I do? Will I have any problems with bolting the forester trans in to the ej25d?

Why fix when you can replace?

Physically yes it will bolt up! Any EJ-series motor can bolt up to any 4EAT/5MT transmission you just need some accessories depending on the route you choose.

If your using this car as a daily driver and enjoy Auto-Magic transmissions I would go with a 4EAT rebuilt/used transmission.

Manual swaps are extremely expensive to have done without a discount or free :-D

There is no harm in putting in a rebuilt/used transmission from a Forester as long as its Final Drive gearing is set the same as your car. Your Transmission and rear differential should be the same rating. And your Center differential should be the proper spec to match trans and rear diff aswell.

I am not sure what the Auto Legacy GT's FD is and I have no idea what "Forester" transmission your going to put in.

If your handy you can find a wrecked auto subaru and take the solenoid but is this really worth your time, money, gas?
