Im not on here much but I have lurked some. I have a 99 outback 2.5 DOHC with a 5speed. Im pretty sure my head gaskets are toast. Thought it was my water pump but that ended up being fine when I took it out. I know it overheated a few times so I'm worried about the block or heads being warped. So I was thinking of just swaping an engine in and being done with it as it has close to 200k on it.
What are my options besides a USDM ej25? I would like to do no cutting into wiring. If I understand correctly The JDM engines only require a USDM intake manifold. Is this true?
I wouldn't mind doing something performance orientated. What engines could I swap in that would need little work to make them work? Or could I do something like cams while the engine is out?
Any help would be appreciated. Now that it is nice out I would like to get rolling on this project.
