Has anyone used FlowMaster mufflers on their Subies? I have a line on two Flowmaster 40's that would fit the wagon. Thoughts?
Thanks!

just get it slap it on and see how its sounds. I have a magnaflow on mines and i really like how it sounds. Oh and to add to it i have ebay uel headers and a 2.25 mid pipe

LOUD, really loud if you don't have your stock cats, my brother-in-laws 1.8L had replica headers and strait pipe to the axle, he tried a flowmaster 40 series and was almost the same volume as not having it at all.

I've never heard a 4cyl that sounded good with a chambered muffler. Especially if you have UEL headers, it will sound very raspy and metallic.

Can't tell you about on a subie (have one but haven't installed it yet), but on my old V6 toyota pickup, the Flowmaster made it sound like a V8 muscle car. Like it had balls, just to disappoint you with it's 3800lbs body and 150hp. :( Surprisingly I only got pulled over 3 times in that thing, without getting a ticket, for dumb things like tail-light out, missing mud flap & cop checking for drunks. On my legacy sedan, I would be more worried about police attention due to the exhaust, don't know about with a wagon, though.

I am trying to decide a cost effecient way of getting some rumble. I was toying with taking out the resonator or these flowmasters. Thanks for all the input, it was helpful and I appreciate it.

the resonator is what helps you rumble, take it out and you'll be VERY raspy, the best bet for rumble is UEL headers and a good axleback

vibrant performance makes one (axleback) that isn't too pricey and sounds great

^yup, i have a VP axleback and its more rumbly then some of the wrxs around here

Where I'm at now is leave the resonator and purchase a set of those black Vibrant mufflers as they don't make a cat-back for the '05. It'll be a few weeks, but I'll post up picks after they're in. Thanks again for all the input! :thumbright:
