hey guys. im going to check out an SVX motor 3.3 H6 tomorrow.

i guess this guy bought it in a lot at an auction, the previous owners plan was to put it in an airplane.

so mileage is unknown, it is complete except for the ECU and MAF.

he sent me some pics and the thing looks pretty clean/in good shape.

includes alt/ps pump/ac compressor

the bad is it also has a broken valve cover, guy says and the pics look like it just got pinched in a chain or something while moving it.

i am planning on doing a rebuilt, so when i go look at it i will make sure it spins freely, etc.

my plan is to follow in statgst, and httrdd's footsteps and put it into a legacy, or preferably 96-99 outback.

i know this leaves me needing to find an ECU, harness, MAF, replacement valve cover, etc.
the guy did say he may have the ECU and wiring laying around somewhere, he wasnt sure. i guess he bought a bit auction lot.

but if the price is right......

so what is the right price for this thing?

thoughts?

I wouldn't pay any more then $150-250 (But I'm a cheap ass)
considering there is no ECU, wiring harness, cracked valve cover, missing MAF, and how bad you want it.
by the time you source out whats needed above, you might be better off buying a (damaged/salvaged title) SVX.
Then parting it out after you take what u want. possible breaking even or making some money to help support the rebuild.
just some food for thought. anyways good luck.

Welcome to 3.3 hell! What year is the engine? If you are looking for an ecu I would go right to obd2 harness and ecu. They can be found for about the price of a obd1 ecu. I am pining out the ecu and then in the harness goes. I will help you all I can.

wait around and get a whole car. StatGSR bought his first for $400 and the second for $300.

those prices are amazing, i was just talking to some family in thief river falls MN, about how much cheaper cars were up north as opposed to FL, even in crappier condition.

every once in a while down here an ugly SVX pops up on CL with a bad trans, and they eventually sell for $800 or so.

the red SVX dad had is still being drivin by the guy down the street from his house. i would have felt bad tearing that one up.

Alright I will confess! I paid only $700 for that really nice svx with a bad trans. The brand new windshield is worth more than I paid!

for instance...

this is the cheapest SVX i can find in the state. running or not.

FL just sucks, cause anything you need or need to sell needs to be shipped in, or out.
