I kinda broke my spedo when I removed my gauges durring my teardown and need to replace it. So my question is what gauge sets fit our cars or what gauges will fit? I figure while I am in there I might as well replace the whole thing. I can prob get a good price on 04 sti gauges. Are any sets plug and play or is there some splicing involved. Thanks TJ.

Nothing USDM STi will fit. The cluster uses Drive-by-wire and a completly different connector.

Physically the STi cluster does not fit without trimming/cutting and a custom "shroud" around the cluster.

Any Legacy 95-99 cluster will fit. Its also possible to get a damaged/junk cluster and just pull the gauge out that needs to be replaced.

00-04 legacy cluster do not fit either since it has the same fitment issues as the STi.

There are some very nice "Legacy STi" clusters available on the Yahoo Japanese Auctions and Up-Garage..

Good luck

Aren't the STi leggy cluster kph though? I really do not want to deal with that if they are. I am not worried about splicing wires since I just did my whole H6 swap harness conversion. I think a couple more plugs wont hurt.

There both KPH/MPH although KM is the dominate measurement. Its still plug and play. Your VSS will still give the proper readings to the cluster. Similar to USDM clusters in Canadian cars. MPH is dominate but KPH is still visible and yes its still plug and play.

Good luck with your cluster choice. You can always try sourcing a BE gauge cluster and transplanting the BE gauges into the BD cluster. I don't think anyone has tried that but hey give it a try if the price is right.

I saw some nice JDM guage sets on ebay, and they were automatic. All were in KPH, and one even had a 300 kph speedo.

The last one is nice, but like I said I want the mph in there.

All you need to know is 100kph = 62mph. :-)

I'll be making a new one from scratch using ether Autometer or Glowshift gauges. They have a 160mph speedo, and 9k RPM tach. Just need to get a Water Temp and Fuel Level gauge. I was planning on hiding the stock cluster in the dash so I can just extend the light points for the blinkers, check engine etc... Also keep the Stock odometer in the car. The nice thing is that I'll be able to get all red gauges that match so I can get a Volts, Oil Press, Fuel Press, and Wideband gauge that match my cluster perfectly. I did one in a SR20 Swapped AE86 I built using Autometer Phantom Gauges and it came out great.
