View Full Version : Which Short Shifter??

I just bought my first Subaru. It's a 99LGT, and I love the car, but am not crazy about the shifter feel.

I've been looking at the different short shifters available, and while the Kartboy and B&M unit's look quite nice, the Cosmo is very enticing at $31.

Does anyone have any opinions on the Cosmo unit?? The one thing I noticed on the Cosmo is that it appears to use roller bearings as opposed to poly bushings. Am I missing something??

Is there anything else I should replace while I'm doing it? I've read that I should change the rear bushing, anything else??

Thanks!

You should change the front and rear bushings. Check the DIY for the B&M write up, it will show you the bushings and the installation.

The Cobb unit is adjustable both height and throw and its not to expensive. A nice copy of the Cobb is Group A's unit which works on the same adjustable specs.

I would say go with the adjustable since you can play around with it when you get bored.

Sorry to revive old stuff, But I see the Group A SS has 2 bottom pieces in the picture. Is that so it can fit the 95-97 MTs and shifter linkages?

Edit: I just read the site properly, the other one won't be available for a bit.
