Phase 1 DOHC to SOHC

Ok, so I'm returning my 98' 2.2GT-T to stock. I am thinking on putting a sohc 2.5 motor in it instead of the dohc. The reason being that I just rebuilt a different Dohc 2.5 and I had almost $700 just into the heads, and I can get a Sohc or cheaper than that. So Will only the 98-99 sohc's swap over with out tons of wiring changes I assume? Basically, I need a MAF based motor and the Sohc went MAP in 2000 I think?

Or, if I get a MAP based Sohc, can I just swap the cam gears and wiring and use that?

Interesting question. I never knew that the 99 SOHC 2.5's were MAF based, like their EJ25D brethren.

screw it, I can get a 3.3 for cheaper than either of the 2.5's haha.
