Zak's 97' BK GT - 12/20/2010 - Upgrades...

Hello SLi,

I am an apprentice mechanic with Toyota and a volunteer fire fighter awaiting my full time position.

I am from Toronto, ON, Canada and my story goes like this.. two years ago I bought a BD GT EJ25D in White. Love the thing 300,000km on the motor. Drove it around and had a series of 'incidents' which led to me getting a 5MT transmission swapped in. 3 days later a mini van T-boned my GT :cry:

3 Days after that I found myself a BK GT with a blown head gasket. 2 days later I had swapped my old 98' BD GT EJ25D into my 97' BK GT Chassis. I played around with the evap and a few other things that did not match. Ended up with a running car with the flowing CEL/MIL lights P0183, P0446, P0463.

The beginning of April 2010 had taken a turn for the worst. Blown head gasket......... and to top that off a few of my valve guides were missing.. obliterated. You think your subaru makes a bad ticking sound you should hear my motor before the rebuild. After sending the heads to the machine shop and fixing things up I rebuilt the motor and since then I have hit 2000+ km without a hitch.

Anywas you will probably notice that most of my parts are from Chuck's old BD GT so nothing to special but hey this is my Daily Driver :smt023

is 2.25 stock piping for the wrx cat back? what all was involved to make it fit?
I've always liked black bk's. car looks good, and can't wait for more pics.

nope.. Zak's running my old exhaust setup.

Donut gasket + flange was removed and the mid pipe had been extended almost 4-6" with a generic flange to mount to the OBX hi-flow cat.

Other then extending the begging of the mid pipe you have to relocate the rear axle back hanger. Also if your a wagon guy you need to extend the rear of the axle back before the muffler by an inch or so to take into account the longer rear bumper on the wagon.

Some update info...

-Chuck sold me his old setup.. FHI 4/2 pot brakes without ABS.. very fun :-D
-Chuck sold me his old GC 6-spokes for my winter rims to clear the brakes.
-Painted some of the car flat black after the quarter panel repairs
-Installed GC STi Lower control arms
-Installed a GC STi hood scoop on a L hood from Dip.
-Installed v.7 front struts with hotchkis springs and 05' RS rear struts with hotchkis springs.. :-p rear end doesn't sag as bad..
