Just curious if I can make an '04 STi intake manifold work on my '98 2.5GT?? Anyone have any clue on this one??? They're both dual port motors (STi & Legacy 2.5GT), but I'm not looking to go turbo just increase flow to the heads...

It should fit, but then again it may have many different ports and outlets for updated systems, and I don't know if the stock legacy injectors would fit or if the fuel rails would bolt up. IF you were upgrading the whole fuel system you'd need some electronic management to lean out the sti injectors to match the non-boosted legacy air flow or you'll run reaaaaallly rich. If you have access to one to "test fit" give it a shot, just be weary on starting it up if things don't match up right to mess with your stock systems.

So it's likely not worth spending the cash on to find out it may not fit then huh? :( I wasn't sure if someone knew of this being done already or not. A guy selling one says it fits, but I'd rather confirm that with fellow Legacy followers vs. someone willing to say "yes" just to get my cash...

I'd be more willing to say "yes it fits" if you had an 04 or later BE/BH legacy, I think the newer ones had different intake sensors, IAT's and things of the sort aside from our MAF's.

Well, I'd like to eventually swap over to a WRX motor some day in the distant future. Whether it happens or not is a whole other story really. So I'm just trying to find mods for the current motor w/o going broke doing it.

Honestly, unless you have a big budget for an N/A build, save your pennies, because there isn't much to get a decent bang for the buck with your stock engine. Just be patient and keep them in that jar for the WRX engine, you'll be much happier, and so will your wallet!

STi's are also drive-by-wire and the throttle body bolt pattern is different than drive-by-wire throttle bodies.
Too much work, IMO.

Thanks Phil for the tech info on the matter. I appreciate it. 8)
