I just learned recently that at auto zone when you buy brake pads that have a life time warranty that it includes ware. So as long as the pads are not worn down to the rivets they will replace them for free. I was just wondering how many people knew this cause that's pretty awesome if you ask me.

I got lifetime pads once. about a year later my front rotors were worn past the point of being legal to turn (too thin). Then I found out that the way they make them lifetime time pads is by making them so hard that your rotors wear out instead of the pads. Seems to me it is cheaper to replace pads than rotors.

well they have the same deal with the rotors. so once you have bought them you are good to go.

All you have to do is save the box with the old pads to get new pads. One brand that does that is raybestos.

Hey bluebaru, just noticed you are in N. AZ. Whereabouts? I used to live in Flag. Loved it there.
I do the lifetime pads for the rears since I don't care about them as much.

Maybe for just a daily commuter appliance on wheels these kind of pads are fine, but honestly I'd rather shell out money for new brakes pads of my choosing each time than put up with mediocre performance just to save a few bucks each pad change.
Pads and rotors are like tires and oil in my book.

thats good point i have not done any really-X yet or any thing. So for my DD needs they do just fine but I can see where if I was racing and competing I would pay more for nicer pads.

Yeah if I have a DD and a racer Id have lifetime pads and rotors on my DD but, I only got one so its got Axxis pads. Although if your only going to rally-x and not planning to auto-x or track your car like me ceramics would be fine the brakes don't take much at all in a rally-x.

Werd.
I used Autozone pads once on my parents van, the high-end ones (whatever they are called). They squeeled from the beginning, even with freshly machined rotors and properly lubed everything. Took them back and had them replaced under warranty, new pads did the same thing. Got fed up, ripped them off and put on OE pads from the dealer. Not a single noise from them. Never again.
The lifetime warranty is built into the price on those, so the fact that they are fairly inexpensive plus have a lifetime warranty means they are made poorly with really crappy materials. Not a good combination for brakes if you ask me.
