temporary fix for that damn noise

so my car is still makeing that noise so i put the fuse in the fwd slot and the noise is gone, so can i drive with the fuse in or will it mess up the transmission?

dont drive with the fuse in FWD, thats asking for all sorts of trouble

ok, i think it is the viscus cup, where is that at in the differential or transmission?

Viscous Coupling is in the rear extension case on the gearbox

so how do i go along fixing that? just replace it? if so wat cars can i et it out off? and wat gear ratio is mine? its a 98 lgt

you'd probably want to get a proper diagnosis on what the actual problem is.
given you're removing the load from the whole rear half of the drivetrain, it could be a number of things back there
rear-diff, bearings, etc, etc

There is no viscous coupling on a 4EAT Subaru, it uses a hydraulically controlled transfer clutch pack for the center diff. VLSD is only for the 5mt.

well i pretty much did get a diagnosis and they said it was the viscous cup, they said it was from changing my front tires and not the back

Then take it to a different place because they don't know what they're talking about. The center differential is not viscous coupling on automatic transmission Subarus.

ok, so the last 3 or 4 posts made me lol.

that being said, it is really....really......reallly silly to just throw parts at something...

i dont know what noise your hearing, but it is always better to rule out the cheap stuff first, wheel bearings, tire noise, diff noise etc, before you go buying trans parts(and also, its almost always easier to find a working trans, than mess with internals.)

i rememder that 2000 outback i had, had a hell of a "swish" noise when going down the road...i thought it was wheel bearings, then i thought it was diff noise, then i thought it was the "flangedibular modulation unit"....turns out it was corrision/dirt on the yoke of the driveshaft where it goes into the transmission...so i bought a new seal and polished the yoke with emery cloth, re installed...no more swishing noise. apparently every time the driveshaft rotated it would rub on the seal/flange that it rode in and make a swish noise that varied with road speed...

my point is, no point throwing parts at it, you will break yourself and the bank account before the issue gets fixed....or sell it to me for cheap.
