I believe that your only option is the blackout spray from AutoZone, etc. As to headlights, look for the JDM projectors on ebay. You could do a set of Morettes if you can find them.... and afford them.

dont go to black! i dont see a point in this at all if you care about laws...
i'll agree i like the look but its a safty hazard for sure.

cops dont like modded cars, thats well know. if i ever rear ended someone with sprayed or blacked out tails im SURE i could convince the cops/judge that it was there fault, not mine cause i couldn't see the lights because of the stupid aftermarket stuff. they'll be the one in trouble

this is nothing against you i just don't like this mod.

^ +1

but if you really want the hassle...which will come, at some point, cause of some bored cop.

you can find this spray tint at model stores, used for tintine wondows of model cars/trans/etc. i believe it is chemically very similer, and ALOT cheaper than the niteshade stuff.

ive used it before, works like a charm....except for the hassle from cops....

my tails are nightshaded on my 99 gt.. it looks great, totaly blacked out but light still comes thru just fine, most cops dont give a crap and its just a secondary offense after you have been pulled over for speeding or something else

I have a vinyl tint over mine and almost brights up lighter because of the all the red. Cops never hassle me and imo looks wayyyy better i love it.

this is what you need, VHT Niteshade Spray, someone has a thread under the member rides who did this with a DIY.

If you know someone with spray guns, just go buy a half pint of clear coat and a half pint of black automotive paint.

Mix them to your darkness liking, and spray them with that instead. Easier to get an even coat, and usually more durable than nightshades.

If your legacy is black granite pearl like most any "black" subaru, Get a half pint of the factory color and mix with clear, it will be tinted but retain the reddish flake the factory paint has, not to mention it looks amazing.

Just a thought.

No no. The reason would be because they look awesome. I used that exact same spray and had no problems. Autozone stopped carrying it so i went to pep boys. Great stuff couldn't be happier. Took me about 2 hours total

I used the VHT spray on my '98 gt tail lights and it came out just fine. looks completly black and worried me at first but got a friend to press the brakes and the signals etc. light came through just fine. as for spraying make sure you shake well and have a clean surface to work on! nothing looks worse than splatter marks

^^Very true. Mine came out a little rough but some clear coat made them nice and glossy :)

I did this for a few people who were against the nightshade business.

Nightshade:
Pros[:]
-Quick to apply
-Cheap to buy
-The more coats the darker it gets
-Decent illumination with liberal coats

Cons[:]
-Applies just like paint (can run if a heavy coat is applied)
-Wet sanding need to remove any mishaps / runs / rough finish
-Flat look, clear coat needed to restore the OEM look.

Vinyl Tint Film:
Pros[:]
-Cheap
-Quick to apply
-Easily removable
-UV resistant
-No wetsanding or clear coating.

Cons[:]
-Can be peeled off with a bit of force
-Film breaks down overtime just like any other vinyl.
