So what are my options folks? Theres the pocket and the doored pocket as far as I know. The pocket that I've seen doesn't look very attractive, esp. with those CD slots... and the doored one isn't the most practical. Anyway, bottom line, trying to think of what I could do with the 2 DIN slots that will be available after switching from the factory double DIN plus 6-CD to my single DIN Pioneer.

He might not need guages.
Theres nothing wrong with the factory Subaru pocket. You could also scout some junkyards, I've seen some Nissan DIN compartments that have slide-out cupholders.

Look for an older pocket. The one in my BG doesn't have the slots for CD's so it's just a big pocket, I actually want to find one of the pockets with a door on it from a BE. Other options would be to stick some kind of other DIN electronics in there like a DVD player or something, but it would be pointless as filler. Also seen cupholders and coin drawers that fit 1 DIN slots, mostly on other cars that didn't have other cupholders like an old Ford Tarus.

My cousin has a $20,000 laser machine, so I had him make this for me. Its clear plexiglass painted black on the backside, with the symbol lasered into it which I painted gold. I did kinda a crappy job, but its still cool. Do something custom.

Put in a Forester pocket with the lid. It gives your some more storage, with the lid so things don't fly out under boost/acceleration.

I've got a blank panel from an STI that came without a stereo. Just says Subaru on it. I never use the pockets anyway since nothing stays in them on a hard drive.

I want a several Din center console. I got a useless pocket, a 1-Din hole for the cd player, 3 buttons and the AC-control.
The pocket only work for smokers, i can fit 2 packs of smoke or one pack of roller tobaco.

Actually that kind of gives me an idea, a blank panel with a usb harddrive inside! Then I can get ALL my music in my car instead of a wimpy 8GB flash drive..

Should be careful with traditional hard disks in cars. The bumps/vibrations of cars can kill them a lot quicker. Solid state storage is a lot more durable for cars.

Just get a bigger flashdrive, I have 2x8GB and i have more than enough music with that.
