Transmission Final Drives

My '00 BE L is starting to show symptoms of needing a new transmission (after 277k and much abuse) I bought a 26k transmission from a wrecked '03 wagon, does anyone know if the final drive is the same?

In a related question, how do I tell what final drive is on a jdm transmission, I bought one of those ej25de auto tranny combos off of ebay for a 1997 outback limited and am considering a swap soon.

There wasn't an Outback in '97. There was a Lancaster though. The final drive for that is 4.444
Don't know the answer for the first question though.

The engine and transmission said that they would work in Legacys, Foresters, and Outbacks here in the US 96-98 models, but it did not say what it came out of. The '97 Outback is a USDM car that I am considering buying for this engine and tranny.

what is the final drive of a 98 lgt bd auto, and will a 95 2.2 auto work?

98 BD GT Auto has 4.44 FD, and a 95 2.2 auto has 4.11 FD

^ physically yes, car will probably feel a little more sluggish because of the gearing change. though i don't know if the gears 1-4 are the same between the 2 either so there might be minimal difference at all.

I was thinking the same thing. Someone should tell my 97 Outback, that it's not an Outback then.

YamazakiSubaru's talking about JDM, since the OP worded "ej25de auto tranny combos off of ebay for a 1997 outback limited" in a way that could imply a couple things (a JDM ej25DE for/from a JDM 97 Outback limited? or JDM motor to be put in a USDM 97 Outback?).

However, OP cleared that up in post 3.

For the 2nd gen (BD/BG):

Breakdown:
T = Transmission symbol
(T - Transmission)

Y = Transmission associated classification
(A - 2WD AT)
(M - 2WD MT)
(Y - 4WD AT)
(Z - 4WD AT)

75 = Transmission type series classification
(75 - MT [75mm])
(10 - AT [108mm])

2 = Car body series
(2 - Legacy series)

V = Standard transmission spec classification
(A - 2WD AT [TA102])
(R - 2WD MT [TM752])
(V - ViS-C center diff 4WD [TY752])
(Y - VTD MP-T center diff 4WD 4AT [TZ102])
(Z - MP-T center diff 4WD 4AT [TZ102])
(X - ViS-C center diff 4WD D/R [TY752])

COOL, this is the FIRST I've seen describing the last 4 letters. While I appreciate this may not hold for USDM, it IS a place to start!!
