Hey, this is a great site, I'm totally overwhelmed by the amount of information available here. Anyway I'm new, wanted to introduce myself. I have an 02 lemoncy (it's my pun on "lemon" and "legacy" - lotta problems with this car) outback. I bought the car at 102,000 for $3000 - pretty good price at the time I thought. At 104,400 - 600 miles before the suggested timing belt replacement, and shortly before I planned on changing the timing belt - the tensioner snapped and caused my pistons and valves to beat each other to a pulp. So several thousand dollars later I have a new motor and more problems... I love Subarus, and this is my first one. I'm still hoping to make the most out of this one, but considering getting rid of it and cutting my losses at this point. Would still go for another Subaru though. There isn't really anything quite like a Subaru in the American market. Anyway I don't know much about them, but I know a WHOLE lot more about them than when I started. Just here to kind of keep my head down and pick up a few things from the vets.

Welcome, this site is pretty helpful and hopefully you'll be able to sort out the problems with your car, and like you said it might be better to get another one and use this one for parts; if you have the space.

Sounds like your previous owners knew there was something wrong.

If your interested there is a nice 99 Legacy GT sedan at the Manassass Auto Auction.

Thanks all. Unfortunately I've dumped about $8000 into this car by now so unless I sell it I'm stuck with it. I'm already past the point where I would recoup what I've put into it, sadly. Here's the link to my problems https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=18306&p=205723#p205723
