This might not be the most chosen platform for perfomance aplication but I initially got that car just its practicality. AWD, ABS,Heated seat, lots of space for the Dog and camping equipment and not to expensive with 280 000Km on the clock. Go the car for 1 week and I spun a crank bearing on the original engine. put in another EJ25 from Japan this time. Its suppose to be good and more reliable than the american one. I drove it one year and it blew a head gasket. F%$*!!! I was pissed.

I came around a good deal that was posted on the board for a STI V4 that was completly rebuilt with V6 bottom end parts, a V2 tranny, a suretrack rear diff and wrx rear brakes. I also purchased a 3in turbo back exaust (catless) and a TD05 turbo.

I adapted my 2.5 engine harness to the V4 engine and then I cut my ecu connectors, after 6 hours I finished splicing the wires to the new ecu.

then I put the new powertrain in....

relocated the cruise control vaccum pump and actuator

I had to cut my clutch reservoir and relocate my bypass valve since I am using a V6 tmic. you can also see the new location for my wastegate selenoid. I put it there since I used the original EGR wires to hook it up.

got myself a cheap 3in bellmouth down pipe mounted to a TD05

...Conclusion all that is left is changing the gears in the rear diff. since its wienning like crazy and and getting my STI suspension. No problem with the engine what so ever, it runs great and cant wait for the break in period to be over.....;-)

Got some STI V7 struts and installed them( Iknow the pic has a V8 strut but I went to exange it later)

It took like 16 hours to get all the body spacers out and to change all the parts from outback to regular leg parts like tranny cross member, drive shaft and hagner bearing , struts(V7), steering colum and shaft, shifter assembly, trailing arms, sway bar mounts etc... Naturally this is quebec and the bolt where mostly all rusted and seized.

i had to relocate the windsheild washer hose in the hood weebing so it would clear the intercooler and bypass valve

Here's the latest on the Leg.
The brakes were weak and suck a** so I decided to try something different and I like the challenge. The car was due for a complete brake job so I decided to invest in a 5x114.3 conversion but wanted to keep running 16in tires in the winter. So I opted for a 4pot-2pot Nissan caliper setup witch are cheap(300$ for all 4 with hardware) and are aluminium. Believe it or not I approx put 400$ out of my pocket once everthings was done and old parts and wheels sold. That is about what it would of cost me for the brake job . I already had 5x114.3 wheels since my other cars are 5x114.3 bolt pattern. On top of this I now benefit from having bigger better bearings since I like Wide, low offset wheel.

Parts:
4 300zx 30mm calipers
Complete 06 STI brake set up fr and bk with knuckles ABS sensors, ect...
1/2 steel flat bar
2 custom rear axels
2 front 05+ strut bodies
2 front Tribeca rotors
2 STI Gravel rotors

and tones of work.....

I bought the whole STI set up for 1100$ and then sold the 4 Brembo calipers only for the same price on Ebay. So 5x114.3 conversion = FREE.
I started off by making the brakets for the front caliper to fit on the knuckles. Of course these knuckles are 06 STI so I had to mod them a bit because them have a big chunk of metal that is for Road Vibration that was in the way of the braket. These brakets sold for 300-400$ and I made mine for 20$ and also I positioned the caliper closer to the rotor so I maximise the room I have for the wheel.
Since I had V7 inverted struts I was able to just swap the front strut bodies to fit on the 06 STI knuckles.
Then I went to the back and I modded the backing plate a little because the caliper was sitting to high on the rotor. I also redrilled the rear Gravel rotor from 5x100 to 5x114.3. I know that there are available but I got these really cheap on Nasioc.
Whit my STI set up I got the outter half of 2 rear STI axels. I brought those to Marco at CV Tech(Awsome guy) along with my two Sure-track axels and he put them togetter for me so I could run my R160 Diff with the R180 knuckels.
I installed some SS brake line and to my suprise the MC stock on my Leg is the same size has the STI witch is 1 1/6 so I saved there.
I also got at the same time a rear 05 STI subframe for 50$. It has solid bushing where it mounts to the frame and wider lateral link with near to no millage and would accomodate the STI RSB the I have just installed...last night (until midnight since it did NOT fit)! lol.
The advantage to this was that the lateral link mounting location on the subframe are higher therefore since I am lowered I am able to keep a better suspension geometry.
More picture to come since I have just installed the STI RSB and next is the from STI steering rack in a week or so....also will hade nice picture once the NISSAN is grinded of the calipers and there all painted nice!!!

In this picture you can see where the otter CV joint cup was cut and them welded with the STI end. I highly doubt I will ever have any trouble with that

A suggestion if I may? Seats. Some nice WRX or STi seats would really add to the feeling of power in the car - as they are nice and firm, and really grip you. If you're interested, I know of a place in Canada that has a nice selection of everything (even the special edition stuff). Run by a genuine Subaru nutter. I'm just not sure where you are.. ?

The prelude was sold when my GF got pregnant and we got the Forester XT witch is more family friendly!
The Prelude was an SRV(SI in the US) but not AWS.

The heather core is hooked up, its just the a/c thats plugged since I would have needed custom lines. May fix that in the futur, specialy with a young child during hot summer days!

Update on the Leg! The modded steering joint I made to adapt the 07 STI rack was creating a really loose feel in the steering!
FIX: I modded the steering colum so I could use WRX/STI sterring joint. I fitted a STI steering colum shaft in the Leggy Steering Colum tube. It was kind of PITA but the end result is perfect and OEM look! Also I had to change the front windshield and as I expected the rust was really bad. The good part is that I had kept that part of the roof of my parts leggy and managed to cut the end of the roof and reweld the new peice in. I am almost done. I also got a set of 16x8 +30 Skyline GTR R32 wheels for winter! And I am swaping the seats/door card for the GT seats. The 97 Outback seats are the ugliest ever made.
