Does the installation of a Group A pulley cause the CEL to come on and what can you do about it?

Never heard of it, do you have a lighten flywheel too? Did you reset the ECU yet? Go to autozone or whatever other place that does free ECU readings.

no, I was just wondering because I was looking through kartboy and they claim that their crankshaft pulley isn't so light that it causes the cel to go off. since the group a is lighter i was wondering if it would. and if it does then what should or can i do about it?

i would also like to note that I want to do the crank, alternator, and power steering pulleys

you can't get enough weight from the pulley's to throw a cel

* no one has reported a cel due to lw pulleys alone, the combo of lw flywheel & pulleys can throw a cel

You can always reinstall the stockers :grin: But I'm not sure what you're asking.

LOL no i havent installed them yet. I am going to in about a month when I get some money in. But when i do install the pulleys and a lighter fly wheel what do i do so the cel will go off?

If the cel goes off the only thing you can do to correct it is put it back to stock, thats it. Do the flywheel first and see how you make out, then do the pullies, it the cel goes off take the pullies off and sell them.

The cel comes on due to a false misfire code. This is caused after a lightweight flywheel and crank pulley due to the fact that it takes away so much of the rotational inertia that it makes the engine speed up and slow down in between each cyl firing and the pcm interprets this as a misfire. Only fix would be either changing the pcm logic so that it isn't so sensitive to changes in engine speed (which 99% of people can't do) or add the weight back.
