Looking to have skid plates made for BD/BG/BK's my car will be the test vehicle. Price is not set yet and not sure when tooling will begin, but I would like to see who would be interested in one. If this goes well we will look into having other Legacy models next.
i am 100%..
make it bend around the bumper a bit?

Most likely not since a few of us have different syle or front bumpers.

They are not cheap plates and they are rally proven already.

I'm definitely interested as long as the price isn't too absurd. Is this just a front skid plate or would there be something to protect the riff diff too?

Just the front skid plate and mounting hardware.

Just a hint. Make the skid plate with longer spacers.
I've got the Primitive Racing/Writer guy skid plate. But with aftermarket UEL header, portion of the header hangs down too far thus hitting the plate and can't line the plate with the bolt holes. I had to cut a portion of the plate to let the header hang down to clear. I'm not sure with other "brand" of uel header, but the one I have was a pain to work with.

The skid plate will be design to fit my car with aftermarket headers.

What's the point of an oil filter hole, how do you get to a drain plug without making a mess?

^ isnt that what the other hole is for?

I kinda like the one I had on my saab which I feel is perfect for road use. it's the stock one one the C900. covers just the bits that are low enough. But I don't know if something simular would work for subarus.

^ isnt that what the other hole is for?But the oil isn't going to drain perfectly out that hole? Either way I think It would be easiest to remove the plate to oil change. Unless the oil drains out the side far enough?

Those holes will just make changing the oil difficult and messy. I rather remove 4-8 bolts than get burned or oil all over the place. Anyone who changed the oil filter with an aftermarket header knows you don't want to now stick your hand in a hole now, F that shit. The design is done anyway, the only tweaking of the design will be to make sure its a bolt on application for the 2nd gen Legacy.

You know you couldve told the Primitive guys you were going to run it with UEL headers and they wouldve welding in the longer spacers in for you...just saying.

A 5mt doesn't have a transmission pan. The 6mt and auto pans sit very far back compared to where the rest of the things a skidplate is intended to protect, right where you feet would be in the passenger compartment.
I do remember one of the skidplate makers offering a "scorpion tail" option though, basically a 2 foot slab of aluminum welded perpendicular to the main skidplate, basically covering all the way up to the transmission mount. This is more to protect the entire transmission itself rather than some 6" wide pan.
Finally, while access holes are a good idea in terms of convinience, it just weakens the structural integrity of the plate, which sort of defeats the purpose of having one to most rallyists. I have a no-hole version on mine, it takes 4 bolts to undo, although get it off and on are the two hardest steps when doing an oil change.

I did, they fab up longer spacers, but still wouldn't clear the ever-so-long-hanging uel header. Which forced me to cut the plate to fit.

I'm down for it.
Not to be a dick about this, I just hope the price point is competitive with the Primitive Racing products. Those without the cutout holes and the stinger tail run in the mid 200's for price.
I'm interested because my headers and oil pan are getting dinged up by road debris and I have already sustained severe damage once before.

I've got the JDM Legacy skidplate, I love that it has a drain hole. Granted, it doesn't provide as much coverage as the one you're making. But I'm lazy and like that I don't have to remove it.
