First off, the car is a 2001 legacy l, 2.5 5spd. I bought it under the pretense that finding performance parts would be wicked easy, but so far i have found nothing except for stuff for imprezas and legacy gt's i was just wondering a good subaru enthusiast site to get performance parts at a fair price, my plans so far are, intake, exhaust (from headers), and maybe a turbo if i can find one at the right price and who knows from there

also any suggestions on how to get some power out of this lame duck would be great, dont get me wrong i love it and it drives wonderfully but i just need some more speed and a better sound

keep in mind pretty much any money you spend on an intake/headers and even exhaust will be wasted (will not work anymore) if you do go turbo.

btw welcome to the site. i suggest you spend a little more time reading around the forum and learning a little more about your car.

its easy to tell you what you could get. just doesn't do you any good IMHO. Modifying without knowledge about what your doing is a huge waste of time, and more importantly money. set goals, a budget, and let us know what you use your car for and we should be able to help you find the best bang for your buck.

+1 are you using it as a daily driver or a track car? do you have a $1 budget, or are you rich as balls?

well budget is not too too much of a worry, i bought the car knowing i was going to change/upgrade stuff, which is the main reason i bought an L, not the gt. it is my daily driver but i wanna turn some heads

I say look through the members rides thread for Ideas. make sure you look at there mod list.
Many of the rides in there are real head turners.

well so far i know i am doing, exhaust (headers and all), intake, strut bar and new wider rims and tires making this baby hold on to that road tight, any suggestions as to sites to purchase from, i've been looking around and found mostly comparable prices but if there are any that pop into your mind that stood out with prices, service, and on time delivery shout them out, and btw thank you for welcoming me

I've ordered tires from Tirerack and they have really good service. Wheels and tires are a good place to start, save those 15" steelies for winter :)

Hey welcome to the family. i just started with this crew in feb. when i picked up my subie. and by reading threw the forums(particulary the 3rd gen threads) and looking aswell over at Legacy GT.com(mostly 2005+ legacy's) and legacy GT.Org and last and not least Nasioc.(mostly WRX/STI oweners so not to friendly to us legacys ha ha) but my oppinion is this is the best website for our model.
Wasnt sure what part of the country your in. but sometimes there may be local Vendors or subie friendly part dealers near you. ( was supprissed when i found out Rallitek, one of our loved vendors on here is in the same town as me and i didnt know it)
Another idea is to read up on the diffrent mods availible for the natural aspirated engines( N/A )
IE. UEL(unequal lenght headers) hi flow cats; dual mufflers;dual tips or quad tips on muffler.
Sway bars to prevent body roll; Hella horns;Air intakes. ( cold air induction/Short air ram )
break rotor and caliper upgrades;wheels (tires and rims) Body kits. there are alot of body kits that where made for these modles but unfortunatly alot of them are over in japan only.(insane shipping costs to ship here) or out of stock now, quite a few have simply been discontinued do to age.
I have seen like 3-4 modles widley availible but then you need to shop around for best prices Etc.
Well sorry to ramble on. basicly i like to read threw here to find out what works and dosent work all the trials and errors other owners have had threw the years. and pick and chose ideas what you like.
This was a great thread on here that has pictures from over seas. a guys photo album and gave me great ideas and possibliltys here is a link: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10815 (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10815)

Fyi many engine parts for the 2.5 na Imprezas will fit your engine. And also keep in mind that modifying an engine that uses speed density (map sensor and no maf) for engine management will not take full advantage of the modifications unless you retune it, because the engine computer has no way of knowing that the engine is now injesting more air.
