Hey everyone,

I've got a 96 Legacy TS-R Wagon. Only had it a few weeks, seems like a great car. Only thing I have noticed is that when travelling down a straight road (wheels pointing perfectly straight) the steering wheel is always turned just a tiny bit to the right. I have an aftermarket Momo wheel (unless the ts-r comes with this??) and tried undoing it at the boss head and moving it around one stop to the right, but one stop was too much and put it way out to the right making the problem worse. Wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this? Is it a wheel alignment issue perhaps?

Cheers for any help,

Tom

North American alignment specs cause the car to pull to the right so you don't go into on coming traffic if you fall asleep at the wheel.

If its pulling hard then you should get your alignment done. If its just guiding to the right I wouldn't worry about it.

Now back to your wheel centering issue. I had a similar problem.. A aftermarket Nardi wheel with the hub + splines built into it and it never sat centered. I pulled the wheel but the splines always caused the wheel to be off whenever I went to the next notch in the spline. The only fix I can suggest is a aftermarket hub like the quick release ones they sell from NRG or any of the big boys.\

In addition i do believe some roads are paved/crowned to the right to allow better drainage of water off the road way.
but i do believe and alignment shop will be able to fix this for you...

Hmm, I see. Thanks for the replies.

I also wonder, does indicate something NEEDING a fix? Ie; if its caused by alignment will it be bad for the steering? The tyres seem to be wearing evenly.

Cheers

The main issue with out of spec alignments is excessive tire wear. I suppose if you aren't experiencing that you'll be fine as long as you can put up with the wheel being off center. But you can also get a lifetime alignment somewhere and you'll be set for a long time...

I messed with my suspension and my steering wheel somehow started doing the same thing yours is doing. Drove a few hundred miles with it. There weren't any other problems with it, no uneven tire wear or anything. Didn't need to fixed, but it was just annoying!!

Alignment WILL fix it.
