Quick question about the CEL

When talking to my mechanic yesterday, he asked why my CEL is never on, but he pulls codes from the computer. I told him that the previous owner probably took it out to try to get it inspected. He then mentioned that could cause the ECU to go into limp mode, because there was no bulb.

Is that possible? I am going to be replacing the bulb anyway, but I figured I would ask first.

no, missing the bulb does nothing, but not alert you have a code

I had my 97 GT for a bout six months before I put a bulb in, it has no effect on the car.

Some cars will sound a warning chime if the CEL doesn't work, but I don't think the BD does.
