I have read:
"Engine swap questions READ HERE FIRST"
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3347 (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3347)
I am still on the fence and not sure which route to go with.
I am new to the Legacy swaps so be patient with me, I have done a swap on Nissan S13.
I have just spent hours reading peoples thread on here and Nasioc.
This is the closet to what I want to do:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... swap+ej257 (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1102629&highlight=be+bh+swap+ej257)
But the Subi swaps look a lot more complicated after reading that entire thread. :smt018
Here are my criteria for the swap:
Must be a Sleeper!!!
Want to use stock everything since this is a Daily Driver and not looking to have a loud exhaust or blowoff valve "whsst"
Stock:
*(STi or WRX) turbo back exhaust
*Intake

The hardest part of the swap really is the wiring. East Coast Swaps will do the harness for you for about $900 and they are right in CT.
EJ20T will probably be cheaper to source out than the STi motor, but the STi motor will have more power.

axles, driveshaft, I dont know if the wrx has the same spline as the leggy and if you go with the six speed, you need to get a shorter driveshaft, If you talk to frank at Driveshaftshop.com he already knows what to do... thats if its the STi swap..(Like I said Idont know if the wrx is the same)
Next is the wiring, I have a friend that does it, Zephyr.. If you want his number let me know
I used a BAJA turbo cross member...
everything else bolts on...
or you can use the stock drivetrain (trans n rear diff) and you dont have to worry about the axles and drive shaft... but you will break something..LOL

If you have done a swap on a S13 its safe to say that you've joined a CA18 or KA24 harness to SR20 harness. A subau harness is not as easy as a S-chassis but still similar.
Things to consider:
Engine:
EJ20x which one? USDM / JDM? The power output between each is huge. All of these are Cable-throttle.
EJ25-5/7 is Drive-by-Wire throttle so again more wiring and issues to work out
Transmission:
USDM WRX 5MT are very weak
JDM STi 5MT are much stronger then USDM WRX.
6MT swaps involve DCCD, driveshafts, axles, matching Final Drive gear ratios between Front Diff-Center-Rear Diff.
As for sleeper. As long as you don't upgrade any of the breathing systems and use the stock BOV/Recirculator then it should be whisper quiet.
It looks like you need to do more research on which combo you want.

I recommend doing a hybrid sway 2.0 heads and 2.5 block u get the easier wiring with the 2.0 liter harness aka cable throttle and Also the big one is not haveing to deal with the steering colume swap / chiped keys and the immobilizer.

I already have the drive by wire in the car as it came stock on the '04 with the H4 engines.
What did you guys do about the tach and speedo?

Was just advised by a close friend to wait until my engine just capute before even thinking about dumping money into it. hahaha, my response was these engines don't really die.

sorry a little off topic
True, you aren't ever going to recoup the cost of the swap if you tried to sell it or anything so it better be something you are willing to spend money on and keep for your own enjoyment. I was about to say just buy a WRX or something but if you already have an EVO 9...

I've pretty much resigned myself to keep my car for the next 5 years or so, at least I wouldve gotten the most enjoyment out of the money I've poured into it.
