Hey guys, recently just bought a legacy although i cant really find anything out about its specifics.

Its a 1996 Subaru legacy RS-B wagon, which I had never seen before but it is different in some ways to a standard GT-B.

Apparently it was a limited model, available in manual only and looks a bit different to stock and I've been told everything including the exhaust is stock except for the mags. Im pretty sure its also lower than a standard GT as well. Wondering if you guys could tell me anything about it?

Welcome to the site!

Anyway, the reason you can't find anything out about it is because it never existed. Somebody took the "RS" badge from the sedan and replaced the "GT" badge it looks like. The rear step and garnish cover are available as purchasable options from the Subaru options catalogue. If you let me know the information on the ID plate, I could tell you exactly what you have (what it really was when it came from the factory) when I get back home...

Until then, I've taken the liberty of going through everything Subaru made '93-'02 and posting it in the link in my signature. You can look at that and try to figure out what your car is from that. I'd love to be able to tell you more, but I don't have my library here. My initial guess is that it's a GT-B.

Hey thanks, I was wondering if someone had just replaced the GT badge but I thought since it looks quite different to a standard GT that it may have been something different. So the different boot design, step, exhaust and ride height would have all been options you think?

Well had a look at the numbers on the plate:

Applied Model: BG5B5CD
Option Code: KGC
Trim Code: 710
Engine Type: EJ20RDWCJE

Cool. With that info I can give you a complete breakdown of what the car is/has. Unfortunately, I won't be home until middle of June and that's where all my books, manuals, and catalogues are.

The exhaust is clearly aftermarket, as well as the wheels. I couldn't say about the ride height. You'd have to look at the suspension. And the other stuff isn't optional from the factory, you order it at the Subaru dealer. Like the side mirror blinkers on my car.

The previous owner saved you some $$$ by putting that stuff on before you bought it, because it isn't cheap.

Cheers for that. I didnt think the exhaust could be stock but the previous owner said it was and my mechanic had a look and said it was either stock or a really good aftermarket job, when i got it inspected before purchase the notes said the car was not modified so its a confusing situation. The rear suspension was replaced recently so im not sure if that would have lowered the height or if that was done prior, as far as I know the front is still the original bilstein.

Still never seen any car around like, guess not many people get the sorts of dealer extras on my car. Seems I got a good deal though :)
