If you do can you post some pics? I want to know if it will look good. I keep hearing that it's not all that dark.

35% is the legal max in WV. It also has to be marked. I don't want to get a ticket.

like i said when it gets installed it has to be marked what tint level it is. And you can obviously tell that it's darker and i still want to have decent vision at night.

I rocked 5% on most of my cars here in NY and the only time I ever had an issue is when a cop pulled me over for something else (speeding) and gave me a tint ticket instead.

Thats all they will do? give you a ticket? hah then I might get 5% all around, just hope it will look good with the color of my car.

Here in illinois the ticket is $225
DarkPhoenix
05-24-2010, 11:17 AM
The ticket here is about $150, unless you get a receipt stating that that tint was removed, and then the ticket is dismissed.

They actually ticket people for any tint (in chicago) even though it's legal and there is no option for removal.

Here in Houston idk what the consequences are and what not so I might go for the 5% all around cuz I also do know a guy with full 5% tint and I don't think hes ever been stopped for it.

If he has it and hasn't been pulled over go for it. I am headed back to WV in a few weeks and Ill see what the deal is there.

I've got 5% on both of my Subaru wagons (all 7 windows). I admit the nighttime driving is a bit difficult sometimes, but you more or less get used to it (or get over it). I love it and will never go lighter. I also have never been pulled over.

mine has 35% all round an it's no-where near dark enough
my last forester had a good setup of tint
front door windows were the 35% legal
rear door windows were 25%
cargo area was 15%
the different levels seemed to blend well with each other fro a graduated look,
as opposed to having the legal limit on the fronts and then going straight to the darkest, which looks very ovbious

lol whats with people saying "we'll they never got pulled over so its ok"...
thats like saying "hey that guy just jumped off the bridge and didn't die, my turn"
why give them(cops) excuse to hassle you and give you a bad day. its the law for a reason. If i got in an accident with an illegaly tinted car you can bet i'd convince the cop that the other car couldn't see properly cause of the tint and it would be there fault.
get whatevers the legal limit and call it a day, the rules are there for the good of the game.

What's with people thinking they can "convince the cop" of anything - or as that how you all do it up there in Canada? :)

With illegal tint, it is completely viable that you might not see something you should have, especially at night.
Stick with 35% if you plan to be inspected in the state of WV. I don't know of a single garage that will pass you with illegal tint in this county. Apparently, the WVSP has been paying visits to garages who are passing people with illegal tint. Passing you can cause their inspection license to be revoked, thereby causing them to lose business. It's also getting to the point that tint shops won't do anything darker than 35% on a car in this state.

you guys are smoking crack. I use to like dark tint.. till I tried driving with it. Completely un-functional unless you live in a giant city with tons of lights running down all the streets. 35% in my opinion looks the best. Looks factory as opposed to limo tint.

Agreed! I used to be a tint installer in Virginia, and the limits there were 50/35 (at the time, I've heard they changed). In TN, it's 35%, which is what I have, and it's a very usable tint. I'd highly recommend you look at Formula One tint. It's pricey, but comes with a lifetime nationwide warranty, and because it has a higher metal content in the film, tends to "appear" darker than 35% (has to do with reflective properties, etc.)

nice.. I'll have to check that company out. I'd love to get tint, but here its only 35% allowed for the back windows.. meaning the car would look a bit wacky if I even got tint at all. Its hardly even needed here as the temperatures / sun aren't super killer like florida or cali or something.

So wait you cant do the front windows at all? crazy. I decided on 35% tint long ago and will do it next spring. It is needed in WV

That just means you need to upgrade your lighting! Anything darker than 35 is pretty challenging, I went 35 on my rear hatch and still had to upgrade my reverse lights so I wouldn't back into people's mailboxes getting out of friends' driveways at night.
+1 on using metal content - you can hardly see anything into a car that's done 27% with metallic tint - it offers just as much privacy as limo tint.

I just got 35% all the way around. It looks fine, i might prefer a little darker but 35% is the legal limit in WA anyway so I decided just to go with that. Ill take some pics soon

I just got my windows tinted today. 30% on the front and 20% on the rest. You shouldn't get in trouble for anything darker than like 25 unless the cop is being a complete dick. It looks decent though...
